It was a whole different experience for me during the last new year's Eve, I left the worship center immediately after shouting and jubilating onthe crossing over to the New Year(2022), I was supposed to stay till dawn but I wasn't just ready for that, afterall I wasn't at home villa where privileges are used to pin me down to stay till dawn🤗.

Let me tell you the tradition of my new year's Eve.

It used to be convenient and sweet but the whole system changed some years ago and each time I remember that the New year's Eve is coming, it gives me slight brain fight.

Some years ago, we used to be in church by 10:00pm to celebrate the moment before crossing over to the next year, when 12:00am reaches, we shout, jubilate, give thanks to God and hug our loved ones for making it to the new year, and after that we end the church service and return home to sleep or continue jubilating in dances, eating, drinking and shooting of bangers (fireworks).

Then we return to church the day that follows by 8:00am for the New Year's Service which lasts for just an hour.

But things have changed...

Now, instead of us to close from church immediately after entering the New Year, we stay till 5:00am. Gosh😴😴.

The ordinances that come from the moment of crossing over to the new year to 5:00am is not worth leaving that's why it's hard for us to leave after the entrance to the new year but that doesn't meant that a good number of people don't go after the 12:00am jubilation.

Staying awake all through the night ends up making the next day 'useless' because I'll be dizzy and sleeping all through, infact I won't have the strength to feast on food as I ought to, neither do I go out to visit friends, welcome friends nor watch movies.

I escaped that last year's Eve

During last year's Eve, I was away from home villa because of work demand, so I planned to join my parents on the 1st of January.

I attended the cross over night service in my current church(same church but different branch) at the city I'm residing, but I left immediately we shouted the "Happy new year!". What happened?

The reason is very simple; I'm very free at the city church and not as tied down the privileges at home villa. It's not like I'm not serious as a committed church person in my current church, I am, but not attached with heavy responsibilities, so I can leave with just little permissions and questions🤔.

I got home that night and gave myself a good sleep treat because I haven't had that for a long period because of work. I woke up by 10:00am, took breakfast, prepared my luggages and left for village.

Just as expected, I got home around 1:00pm and I met everyone sleeping. Yeah, they were feeling the effect of staying awake all through the night via the cross over service. They managed to finish preparing food around 4:00pm which we ate as lunch.

The system still holds and I'm travelling home for New Year in two days time, which means I'll join them in the 'long' crossover service. I'm still making plans to see if I can dodge. Lol🤣.

Thanks for reading

Sorry, I know this is a bit religious but I tried to make it simple
