When I first heard the teaser of "I Can't Look Away" by Mr P, I knew it was going to be a banger because everything about the song screamed the old, defunct group, P-Square. They are one music group that, even though they are no longer functioning together, left a mark on the music industry that still remains intact. It's so bad that during their days, social media was not there to give them the hype that the current artists are getting.
When the song was released, it came with an official video, and it took over the airwaves, with everyone giving applause to Mr. P. for bringing us the kind of songs they used to give us back in the old days.
This song has catchy lyrics, although they are still centered on the beauty of a woman, just as the trend of modern-day music has been. What makes the big difference are the beat and the dance style.
The beat has more of the early 2010s Nigerian music vibe, exactly the type that P-Square used to deliver in their prime. It is a truly danceable beat.
The dance style is the killer part of it, and I can't help but give accolades to Mr. P. for keeping the P-Square energy alive. Yes, it's a choreography-based dance style, or rather, a group dance style. Mr. P., alongside most of the members of his dance squad from day one, pulled off an incredible performance in the video, making it a timeless watch.
Till today, I still go back to the video to entertain myself because I just can't get enough of it, and I can't look away either.
Thanks for reading.
