This year's holiday is one of the holidays that I will be looking forward to and depending more on a miracle to happen financially. As things currently stand, if I get a work opportunity that will take up my time but offer me good money, I don't mind staying active with the work, even in the midst of the upcoming festive season.
Unlike in the past holidays, when all I was looking forward to was getting maximum rest and running away from work.
I remember that, during the last Christmas period, I travelled home on the 29th of December, and my siblings were shocked to see me at that particular time instead of the 31st of December, when I usually turned up.
"What happened? Why did you come this early? Are they pursuing you in the city?"
Mehn, I miss how last year played out.
But this year, everything is choked up. "There's no money on the ground" to settle many scores.
But then, if everything aligns well before or during the upcoming festive season, my biggest target will still be REST.
Gosh, I treasure this maximum rest so much. I love travelling to the village, where I will be far from the reach of my workplace and won't have to receive those emergency calls asking me to attend to work. I want to have dinner early and also not have to worry about what to cook before I eat. I just want to visit home and eat enough organically grown farm produce and fruits because we have a farm where we grow our basic food crops, as well as coconuts, oranges, bananas, plantains, and so many other plants.
These are basically my go-to plans whenever it's time for the end-of-year holiday. I usually don't have the strength to add bulky tasks or functions because everything is centred on rest, and I won't have the vibe to move around, jumping from one state to another, travelling and attending functions.
But if the money doesn't show up miraculously as I've been expecting it to, I might deprive myself of that rest and also decide not to travel to the village for this festive season. I will have to stay in the city and work my time out in order to be able to settle all the financial responsibilities that are lined up for me. Honestly, I'm not even feeling indifferent about this decision; it's what a man has to do to be able to remain a man. Once in a while, a man needs to sacrifice (or abstain from) certain pleasures in order to stay afloat in life. I'm ready for this, this time around.
Mehn, I need 18 million naira before the year ends. If you have a clue to get it, feel free to suggest. I can do anything...馃
