In the month of August 2026, I travelled home(village) for an event, and I was surprised to meet the garden egg plants in our small garden matured and ready to be plucked. Fortunately for me, my younger sisters are not fans of garden eggs. It is only my dad and some of my male siblings who eat them, but it seems they had not been checking on them to pluck the matured ones. So, I took it upon myself to pluck and eat them on the spot.
One of my nephews, who was with me at that moment, was surprised at how I plucked and threw them into my mouth directly without washing. She asked why I didn't wash, and I clearly told her that the rainwater had washed them off and I didn't have any need to wash again. Oh yeah, it just rained before we headed to the garden at the forefront of our compound. So I felt there was no need to wash before eating. Lol
Then, in the city I reside in, I went to one of my relatives' houses, and I met a rare type of garden egg in the small garden in the compound. It's my first time seeing that type, and I couldn't just hold back from starting to devour it without asking if it's actually edible.
Well, for someone who grew up in the village where we did farm work, we had different kinds of garden eggs on the farm. Some were the ones we planted by ourselves, while others grew naturally on the farm, and we ate all of them.
These ones are very unique. The oval shape is weird, which makes them questionable at first sight. The green colour is not new to me, though. I enjoyed eating them, and the ripe ones have a slightly sugary taste.
