Season greetings 🎅🎉
Earlier last year, one of my boss's relatives approached my boss that he wants to open an eatery in the area and he wants my boss to be the manager and oversee everything from the scratch. My boss concurred and surrendered to the assignment, they began from the scratch (building restructuring, purchase of items... everything).
Before then, I and my boss were running a laundry business but he decided to hand over everything to my care because there was no time for him again, all his attention was geared to the eatery they were working on. Ofcourse he was getting paid for his time and work even when the eatery has not started functioning.
The eatery started to function...
When the eatery began to function, he pushed all his commitment to the company, he doesn't have time for anything else and that's because he wants to yield good productivity...he doesn't want the company to die under his care.
Also, he was into Canopy Rentals & Event Management but when the eatery work came, he left everything because he has no chance for anything.
I was still running the laundry business and giving him report on a monthly basis which was very okay between us.
He moved me there...
One day, he approached me that he wants to move me to work in the eatery as cashier because the company is in need of one and he wants someone he trusts. He intend to shutdown the laundry business and move me there.
I rejected the offer and told him it's not idea to shutdown the laundry business because he needs me to work as a cashier in the new company. We argued on it severally and he tried to measure and compare my earnings on the laundry business with what I'll be earning on the new job. I still didn't agreed because business is far better than working on a stationary salary and time wasting job(as it was with the case of the new job).
The argument took us over a month and he finally succeded in shutting down the laundry business and I started working as the cashier of the eatery.
Well, to be honest, I enjoyed the work, I got some nice experience, met nice friends, got to know & eat some sweeeet foods 🤣... but the work was time demanding.
The work took every single time of mine, I goes to work by 7:00am and closes by 9:00pm from Monday to Sunday, untill shift was later implemented. I couldn't anything else aside the work but thank God for blogging, I had time to blog and I didn't experienced low battery because we had light 24/7. Also, despite the absence of time, I was still running the laundry services for some families at my convenience.
We shut down...
Middle this year, sales dropped and that was because the main factor(school; polytechnic) in the town changed pattern, it got converted to a university and many students left. The town became totally empty.
The CEO decided to shutdown because he couldn't cope with everything.
My boss became helpless...
He had nothing to run to,,,he became totally helpless.
I felt it a little bit too but thank God I had blogging and the low-key laundry business.
Lesson
No matter what, do not ever shut down a business to work for a salary. Better still, spread the eggs in many baskets.
