Today, I want to talk about the differences between a 5k and 7k player. The lines between both the ranks may not seem obvious to many, but to more experienced players, they can tell the difference between those two almost immediately.

First off, let’s start with the laning phase. Having played with and against 5k players, they mostly have good fundamentals on the game. Things like controlling creep aggro and blocking, item utilization etc. The difference between them and the 7k players are the efficiency and consistency in pulling off the advantages they have. Having played quite alot of 7k players myself, I realize that 7k players are very intimidating to play against as they almost do not let chances slip past them in game. They utilize opponent mistake very well, and could easily take you off the map if you aren’t careful.

Next, we have farming. A 5k player with a perfect lane might get fat quick, but compared to a 7k player, the average farming speeds are lightyears away from each other. There’s just something to a 7k player’s average farming pattern, that makes them skyrocket in terms of farm even when having a bad lane. Taking advantage of neutral spawn times, having close to 0 down time on farming, things like that stack up and the 7k players show why they truly are the top 0.1% of the DotA world.
