The word hope is a beautiful word, and we all use it. It's a word that is very popular, and I can say every human being is used to it. No day passes without the word being used. Hope is what we all have for some, hope is their fuel for the next phase of life.

To me, hope is simply believing that the current situation will be better. Hope is not seeing the future but having the assurance that it's beautiful and amazing. It is one virtue that most people have and hold onto, and it helps to propel them to the next level of life or lead them to achieve their life goals.

To me, hope is not an independent variable. There are other things needed for hope to be hope. What do I need to strengthen hope? When things I planned for don't work out,? For hope to be strengthened, one needs the following:

Perseverance is one of those things that helps strengthen hope. Sometimes we plan to achieve a particular goal by a set time, but we meet obstacles along the way. We need to be determined to achieve our set goals. If one hopes to achieve a particular goal without perseverance and meets obstacles, one will easily give up, and hope can't function in such an instance.

Hard work is important when one hopes to achieve a goal or fulfill a dream. I can hope to have good grades, but if I don't put in the hard work, I cannot achieve this set goal. I can only hope, but hard work will help my hope come alive. Most times, we overlook the role hard work plays in activating our hope and taking us close to our destination.

Confidence is important if we want to strengthen our hope. I must be confident in my abilities and hope that I will be able to achieve my set goals. One may have great visions, but when doubt sets in, hope may dwindle, and in no time, those visions and dreams we had will completely be like headless chickens. Confidence surely keeps hope alive.

I remember a friend who was hoping to gain admission to the medical college. He had studied hard for his examination, but when the result was out, he did meet the cutoff mark. He tried it the second time and didn't make it. He was laughed at; even his parents told him to look for another career because the medical field was not meant for him. I remember trying to go and encourage him, but I met someone who was confident and determined. I couldn't say a word to him; I was wondering where he drew his strength from. He said to me that he was going to work hard to score the required marks. He sat for the exams again, and he was the best when the result was released. I was proud of him.

When we hope, we should not just fold our hands and hope that everything will fall into place. We need to play our own part by persevering, putting in hard work, and believing in our abilities. As we hope, let's also strengthen our hope.
