Today was a relaxing yet fun homestead day. We made a quick batch of what I like to call nutritional tea for our garden, using our homegrown comfrey and white yarrow. We didn't ferment it this time since it was just a quick boost, so it isn't exactly our compost tea but it will give the plants a nice boost of nutrients, a nice drink, and a nice biofilm coating. :)
Harvested some goodies today! Cucumbers are coming in....time to pickle!! Took out the pressure canner to dust it off. We will be working on pickling tomorrow sometime. :)
We harvested the last of the white potatoes and a few summer beans. We got our first Rampicante Trombone Squash of the season! :) That put a big smile on my face. :) And a few ripe tomatoes....
Of course, now that the tomatoes are coming in, I just HAD to make some fresh homemade sourdough bread. Matter Sandwiches of course!! Spicy Chipotle Avocado Mayo and fresh homegrown tomatoes on homemade sourdough bread fresh out of the oven....now that is yum.
We harvested another basket of echinacea flowers to dry for tea and our first small bushel of basil of the season.
And finally, we harvested a bag of lettuce seeds from one of our favorite speckled lettuce plants.
