What a nice lazy day, finishing off half started projects.
I made a crochet cocoon for a friend a few months ago and enjoyed the pattern, so started this next one. I ran out of yarn mid way through, so have picked it up again after finding some spare wool!
I used 2 strands of super chunky wool in charcoal for the main portion, chunky rose for the feet and ears and a strand of super chunky white with a strand of cream fur for the edging. I used a 10mm hook.
There are many fantastic patterns and they can be adapted to be made longer/shorter/wider by adding additional rounds. Have a search on pinterest for some fancy animals ones! For mine i use a basic increase for the first few rounds until desired width, then straight double crochet around until the length is right.
For the hood, double crochet across half the stitches, turn and double crochet back until desired length. Fold the 'hood' in half to join the corners and either sew or sc crochet along the seam on the wrong side. Sc in each stitch around the border in whatever colour you want.
Crochet two ears. You want to do double crochet increase rounds until you have desired size - i had 24 stitches around for mine with the double super chunky wool. Do the same in pink if you like, but do one oe two less rounds, then sew together.
For the feet, do the same as above, except i had 30 stitches for the grey bit, then the big pink circles are 18 stitches around and small circles are 6 stitches. Make 6 small and 2 big pink circles, plus 2 grey circles. Sew together in a paw shape.
You could also add a tail or any other decoration that you fancy so imagination is key :)
I absolutely love these and the chunky yarn makes a lovely bouncy cuddly cocoon.
Happy crocheting everyone!
