Greetings, dear community! I am happy to share with you the final amigurumi needed to complete the nativity scene I was commissioned to make. As I mentioned in my previous posts, I decided to modify my pattern this year; just as I did with the ox, I also made some very significant changes when working on the mule. I hope you like it! 😊
Proceso / Process
I worked with acrylic yarn and a 1.25mm crochet hook. I began by making the legs, starting with a ring of 6 single crochet stitches, followed by a round of increases to reach a width of 12 stitches; I worked 4 rounds in black and 6 in gray.
Next, I created the oval-shaped belly, starting with a foundation chain of 8 stitches and adding increases at the corners over 3 rounds to reach a total of 30 stitches. In one round, I joined the legs (connecting them across 4 stitches each), then continued with 46 single crochet stitches for 8 rounds. I then worked 3 decreases at one corner over 6 rounds to close the piece into a circle, and finished the remaining stitches by sewing them shut with a needle—leaving 19 stitches open to work a round of single crochet for the neck.
In this version, I made the head more elongated; I started with a ring of 6 single crochet stitches, followed by 2 rounds of 6 increases each, and then one round with no increases. I switched to gray and alternated rounds containing 3 increases with rounds having no increases until I reached a total of 30 stitches. I then worked straight for 8 rounds, followed by rounds with 6 decreases each until the piece was closed.
Then came the fun part: crafting the details, such as the pointed ears, the tail, the forelock, and the ovals used to create the saddle and the mule’s reins.
