"The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.”

When you think about technology and the educational system, I think we can all agree that technology itself is learning, meaning there will be no technology without education and vice versa. I wouldn't want to try to be too intelligent here, I've just been privileged to have gone through a few blogs before writing mine, so it's only fair to say some people just think of technology as the new innovative device we use today. Even I still think of it that way at first thought, but after doing a little bit of deep thinking alongside a few research I saw it from a more wider perspective.

TECHNOLOGY HAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE

In school, we learned that early men always found a way around doing what needed to be done, and if you look back in history every century had its invention that was always improved on in another time.

I would say we are merely an upgrade of our predecessors which would make the future generations come to do way more than we can not begin to imagine. This is because it is the human mind that evolves from continuous learning processes, which I could use to easily interpret Alvin Toffler's quote "The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.”

Technology has and could only advance today because some decide to open their minds to learn, making them improve on what has already been made. And this will continue as long as man continues to learn.

TECHNOLOGY AND ITS EFFECT/ ADVANTAGES

At this point, I will like to say the words if technology was a person and looking at it from my point of view, technology is a reflection of man's imagination. Therefore it is only natural there are effects to how it affects lives, seeing something that serves a purpose to one, will severe an entirely different purpose to another.

Before looking into the devices that people talk about today, there was a time humans wrote on slates which were seen as an improvement to writing on the bare floor, from which the innovation of something lighter to carry around came into thought, and books were produced. But then the digital age came with an idea to reduce waste and easily have access to information which brought about the idea of tech devices for learning purposes.

Looking at the intentions that brought about these innovations, which was a great idea, until humans began having other ideas as to what to do with it.

At the same time, these digital devices are also limited by human thoughts because those who thought of innovating them never thought about a scenario were their devices might electrocute its user, or even be hazardous to human health through the rays they emit.

This is not me trying to defend the manufacturers, but rather saying the effects of using these devices are mostly unforeseen. That is why we can restrict the contents children view on the internet today, alongside other safety measures which if followed could greatly reduce these effects.

HOW HAS TECHNOLOGY FAIRED WITH ME IN LEARNING

I got exposed to the internet quite early, I just finished my Junior Secondary School examination, and my parents thought it wise for me to go for a computer training course before entering Senior Secondary School. (Although I didn't graduate,) then the three months I used in learning computer basics practically helped my mind to learn other digital stuff like video coverage and editing at that time.

But also it affected me negatively because my parents never really knew much about the internet so they never really knew what their son would be exposed to if he had access to it. I was given a smartphone at age 14, so I was easily able to search for practically anything on the internet. (If you understand what I mean 😂😂😂). I also played games both online and offline, but then nothing I did with this gadget affected my studies.

To date, they say I'm addicted to my gadget,(well what can I say, I wouldn't try defend myself on that note) but then this is where technology really dealt with us by ensuring we became lazier than our ancestors. At this point, I really wonder how much lazier the future generation will become, like can a man get any more lazier than this...😂

MY FUTURE PREDICTION ON TECHNOLOGY

I think in the long run teachers will end up losing their jobs since man can never be an encyclopedia of knowledge and AI has now been extremely useful with a great chance of being improved.

I also think just like I am now, (though not fully) the future generation will end up depending more on these survival gadgets and might not know what to do if they have never lived without technology.

CONCLUSIVELY

Technology out of great ideas is a really great idea, but humans will be always full of ideas and these ideas will always be improved because learning will never end. Technology is learning, and being up-to-date in learning is technology. Learning is Education.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today, until next time...
