I'm not someone who makes decisions in a haste, but whenever I do, there's no turning back. I can be very obedient lol, and I can be very stubborn as well. I remember some years back, precisely March 2020, I got my first office job as an ICT personnel and wanted to really learn about the corporate world before going back to school, plus I needed to save up some money for school. However, the pay was quite small, but I took it anyway and decided I would show my worth and hopefully with time get a raise. It was no secret that I put all my efforts into that job to the point my company celebrated my hard work on my birthday.
However, for the raise, I got a five thousand naira increment in the first year and that was how it ended. Even after my probation period, I was still paid peanuts but decided to stay and learn. It was there I built my first website and the company gave me nothing for it. Not even a thank you. I wasn't pained then, but just trying to highlight an instance of how much I was used by the company. Yesterday I shared how I had an accident at that company and even had to come to work the next day. That was how committed I was to my job.
One faithful day I went to the HR and tendered my resignation letter. My boss called me an hour later in shock asking me why I wanted to leave… he was already prepared to increase my salary thinking that was the reason I wanted to quit. Although it was a major reason, I told him I wanted to pursue my dream in tech just so he doesn't find the words to make me stay. I had made my decision and there was no turning back on what I wanted to do. At that point I couldn't allow myself to be continually taken for granted and given peanuts at the end of the day, so I came to Port Harcourt to continue studying after dropping out in 2018. It's been four we wonderful years now and the journey has been worth it
