Hello Steemit!

Here is a poem I wrote about Girls on the Bridge, by the Norwegian painter Edvard Munch.

Girls On The Bridge

We looked out until it all disappeared, the houses along
the sandy embankment and darkening linden trees,
our reflections in the sea muting to silhouettes then
to inky nothings. You brought us here towards evening
for close to a month. When they asked about the famous painter -
was he as mad as all that - I said you were always nice
to me, although I noticed the bottle in your pocket and once
you let out a shriek, which startled us into laughter. Later
in life, I read I was intended as a symbol of adolescent innocence:
that you had denied me with a white summer dress.
