Growing up there was nothing I would rather do than be with my Mum. I spent all my time with her, absorbing her unparalleled motherly love and building an unconditional love for her.
But in my final year at the secondary school, things changed at home that changed me totally. A completely awful human metamorphosis, you might wanna call it.
My parents fell out with each other and being the one at the centre of the feud, it all came crushing down on me like a pile of sand.
I watched my father dabble into all sorts of unspeakable acts while my mother, though occasionally hot like gin, I watched her wail her clothes to satiety.
Later on, all these unwanted incessant activities would shape who I am now and also thwart my sleep. I began to have episodes of it in my sleep (FYI I still have the episodes): unending episodes of it.
So one morning at around 12a.m, I decided that enough was enough. I just couldn't take it anymore so my refuge was to pen my experience down in a poem.
So the poem you are about to read, wasn't totally triggered by something good but it is one that I look back on and thank my stars for being my stars.
Steemians I just shared a pivotal life story with you, please keep it in your box of secrecy.
Thanks! Now Read ON.
NIGHTMARE
In the heart of the night
my tears flow to flooded streams
my cheeks are loaded with blooded tears
and pain pierces me with threaded spears
i restle on helplessly as my heart pounds
my body throws itself away from the wickedness of the world
darkness closes in on my dying soul
the shadows of my bitter past and the sour grapes of my adversaries ally against me
as the night is drowned by the weed of inhumanity
slowly....lowly....tranquilly
like the drunken wobbles of a funeral dirge
faith love hope and light of survival elude me
is this how i shuffle off the mortal coil ?
rotting inside the dungeon of unhappiness
as fear shoots and perforates my dreams
my ideas and ambitions wiggle away in despair.....
with every second that sails carelessly by...
my heart seems like a jackhammer that rattles in my ribcage as i roar on in my nightmare......
