Bryophyllum pinnatum, also known as the air plant, cathedral bells, life plant, miracle leaf, and Goethe plant is a succulent plant native to Madagascar, which is a popular houseplant and has become naturalized in tropical and subtropical areas.

It is used as a medicinal plant here in Philippines. It can be apply on wounds, boils or pigsa and other infections. When I was a student, I used to held it on books and I was amazed on the plantlets that grow along the notches of the leaf margins. It is a fascinating characteristic of this plant that earns its name.
