Someone once told me that "people look uneducated when they lose their temper".

Hehe

Do you believe that?

Believe it or not, it's a statement that I won't be forgetting anytime soon. It's stuck in my head and it has helped me - to a great extent, to put my emotions under check.

Back in the days, I used to be short-tempered and get irritated by things as little as not keeping to time, gossips and other mild stuff. Whenever I get into such situations, I easily lose my temper and it doesn't always end well for me or those involved. I can't recall the exact time I started working on keeping my short temper under lock and keys, but I'm pretty sure that I have improved a lot.

Now, whenever I see people exploding and allowing their anger to control their actions, it reminds me of that funny statement about how it makes people look uneducated. All things being equal, imagine what will be the case when a bunch of uneducated people get into an outburst of emotion due to anger.

That's exactly what we see in my society. Just yesterday, I witnessed a street fight. Not the first that I've seen though. We see a lot of that in bus terminals, markets, schools, roadside...everywhere! It is always a nasty thing to witness.

The one I witnessed yesterday was between two motorcyclists who were allegedly said to have started with a mild argument, but it blew up until it became a nasty fight. The whole scene was intense and it attracted a lot of sightseers. While some were trying to stop the fight, the reaction from others in attendance shows that they were enjoying the show. Hehe.

What a beautiful collective madness!

Sorry...not sorry, you won't be getting the full gist from me. I prefer to watch professionally choreographed fights.

On a serious note, I believe that there are quite a lot of things that can piss people off and make them feel like having an outburst, but losing our temper will invariably be the first step towards an ugly incident. Of course, it doesn't end well.

So, whenever it feels as if you are losing it, try to let out a smile. Even if you have to fake the smile, I suggest you do it. Don't lose your temper just because of anger.

By the way;

do you think people look uneducated when they lose their temper?
