Misconceptions emerges when contrary opinions are shut up.
Misconceptions usually arise when people choose one side of life and dig their leg deeper into that instead of being willing to engage in open-minded conversation about life. When people fail to have open conversations about things that are troubling and things that each of us can improve on, we end up in situations where it's just a "I'm right and you are wrong" situation.
If you have been paying enough attention, you will realize that this seems to be the era we are in right now. It's like a strange time for a lot of things and really strange things are happening regarding communication. People basically adopt one perspective about stuff and never want to listen to someone else who has a different perspective.
I know of a lot of people who are fully misunderstood and also misrepresented because they say things that people are uncomfortable hearing. By the way, the things they say about life, humanities, and Politics are all true and should be common knowledge. However, common sense doesn't seem to be common anymore and the fact that people are consistently having debate about the existence of more than 2 genders is proof of that.
I know that topic is treated like the holy grail all over the world and there is a lot of censorship that comes with expressing opinions about that. The same goes for a whole lot of topics that have been made out to be controversial within the last decade. People who are open to saying the truth about some of these are called bigots in an attempt to demean and shut them up.
That's where misconceptions become a real deal.
People will always have contrary opinions and there will always be ideas that are hard to swallow. Agree or disagree. However, demonizing people for their opinions is a really weird thing.
A lot of people are getting witch-hunted with the pretense that those people are homophobic when they are nothing like that by any stretch of the imagination. These are just folks who are ready to speak up when their principles or ideas regarding any area of life are up for debate. These same people become victims of cancel culture and get widely misrepresented.
My point exactly about misconceptions in communication and the presentation of ideas is that it stems from the fact that people are getting shut up and punished ridiculously for having opinions. People also get punished for having ideas that are different from what's seen as ideal. The world would really suck if no one is free to share opinions or ideas that dispute what's generally projected.
I've particularly come across ideas and opinions shared by really intelligent people who I do not agree with. That's why I like to hear people share ideas and give their own perspectives about topics instead of limiting myself to getting just one person's idea regarding it.
I know from experience that being open to rationally discuss things even when it's done with people with different views and ideas is a much better approach to that. That's by far a more reasonable approach compared to always getting into a "I'm right and you are wrong" debate.
