"This month is one of the most memorable months in my life aside from my birthday, this is the month when I travel outside of my country and try my luck here in Dubai. Come with me as I reminisce this moment and let's relive some of my experiences."
Hi there guys!! I'm back with after a busy schedule from work and speaking of work, this month will be the 3rd year from when I started my journey. It was like yesterday when I remember myself walking in the streets of Manila looking for a job. That day I've learned that life isn't easy especially when you are starting to get older, so many trials and obstacle are there in your path and you will feel like God himself didn't want you to be progressive. Days have passed until I've tried my luck applying for a job here in Dubai.
Departing from home is not that easy, from fixing all the papers for your travel to the worst of seeing your family staring at you and waving their goodbye. As you walk down the aisle away from them and stepping inside the plane, you will then start to think of everything that makes you stop for a while and realized that you're gonna be away for quite some time.
When I reached Dubai, I was amazed on how the place is developed. They've been able to combine their old traditional way and their modern lifestyle. But wait, I'm not here as a tourist! I came here to work and help my family that I left back in my country. I finally realized that the real show will start the next day. So, I prepare myself and have a nice rest.
When I was fixing my things up and unpacking my luggage it was then I felt that it is really hard to live alone. In our home, I'll wake up with everything is done and ready. My mom a wonder woman, does everything for us even we are already grown-ups. That is the time that all I'm thinking is my family and nothing more. I should have stayed, I want to go home, and I miss my parents that is the only thoughts I have in this silly mind. I've decided to face it, face every boredom, face every fear, face every anxiety and stress. I was just thinking that at the end of this journey I will go back home with them for the rest of my life. The show must go on as some people said.
At first I was working in a famous fast food chain, not only here in the United Arab Emirates but also in the rest of the world. Working here with these people and different nationalities gives me a broad understanding of how different people are. In this establishment, I worked with Nepali, Indian, Pakistan, Syrian, Filipino, and a lot more. I say it is a love and hate situation at first, but when you learn to understand them they could be your good friends.
The thing you must do is know the person, what he hates and likes should be always in your mind. Also, put into account is his culture and religion this two are the most common reason why nations are fighting with one another. We must understand what is their traits and values so that in return they will also try to understand us and there can be peace and unity for everyone.
Time passed by and I began to miss my loved ones more and more, many of us hate this feeling of being alone and hearing screeching sounds on the wall because of excessive silence. My world began to deteriorate and it seems like getting more and more smaller. I'm hearing the sound of thunder inside my head that all I can wish for is parents beside me, sure I am suffering from homesickness.
I try all my best to focus on anything, all things I can do just to lessen my distress. Finally, I gain many friends. They are the reason why I overcome the eroding joy that I bare, the smile the long been gone has finally come back. Sure, I really was happy!
Time has come that my contract comes to an end, I need to go my own way and find a better opportunity not only for me but also for my family. I was alone once more but this time it's different, I've learned to live alone, I'm working now as a supervisor for another company and still trying my luck to enter the airline industry. From time to time I miss my parents and now I miss all my friends. Thanks to the internet that communication is quite easier now than those days when there are no gadgets. Can you imagine going to a foreign land with just a letter as means of communicating with your loved ones?
I've finally learned my lesson, life is not as easy as we all think it is, sometimes you have to sacrifice things that are so important to you to achieve a brighter tomorrow we all have wanted. Learn to explore your adversities and learn from each of the experience you've gained along the way. My journey to a better future may not have been ended but yet I became a better person and ready for each and anything life will throw at me. Treasure every moment and save it for keeps. Eventually, you might have to go back to them and share the morals and lessons you've learned to children and grandchildren.
I am different now, a stronger version of me has emerged from the slumps and ready to reach for the highest peak. I was once been knocked down but still I will get up for each time life knocks me down I do have more reasons to stand-up and fight. This is me, a stronger version of me. I'm Allan and this is my journey.
