Dear year, take these things away from me.

Now that we are coming to the end of this year, I packed a suitcase of things I want you to take with you when you leave for good, because they are things I don't need and no one needs and would definitely be better off nowhere. If you are so kind, and I know you are, please take them with you and never give them back.
In this suitcase I decided to put my insecurity, I don't need it, I have discovered that I am a powerful person, with a strong voice and I am beautiful both inside and out.
I also put in there the fear of failure, the worst of my possessions, do you know how many times it stopped me from achieving my goals? Take it with you and throw it in the first manhole you see.
I was very hesitant to pack my character flaws in this suitcase, because for a long time I thought that's who I was, but I was wrong. For this new one to come I will be my best version, so I won't need resentment, hatred, impatience, selfishness or any of that, I packed them.
It cost me a lot, but I made room for my pride, and it was a big space I must say, probably the suitcase will weigh a lot, but I don't feel it. This year I decided to stop fighting with the ones I love just to be right, I decided to stop believing I know everything, I decided to accept that I make mistakes too, and that's fine by me.
One of the first things I packed was anxiety, depression, I don't want them, they have hurt me too much, they have made me cry so much, they have filled me with the deepest sadness to the critical point of despising life. They are at the bottom of this suitcase, in a dark place and I hope you will take them to the farthest place you can so they don't bother anyone anymore.
You may laugh, Mr. 21, at this I ask of you, because you know I am human and we humans are bags of flesh stuffed with defects, you are right. But we are also living souls who vibrate and feel, who yearn and dream, love and are loved. We are in constant search of our wonderful destiny and these things I put here, in the suitcase, are nothing more than ballast that ruin our lives.
Thank you Mr. 21, for all that you brought when you arrived, the happiness, the love, the unforgettable moments that were photographed and those that remained only in the memory. Thank you for all the times that the sun rose and gave me hope, thank you for all the times that the stars of the night illuminated my life. Thank you for the smiles and the movies, the books and the fun, the learning, the lessons.
But also thank you for everything you take with you, I put it all here, in the ugliest suitcase in the world.
