I love the quote "Forgive, But do not forget!".

I am a firm believer in cutting people out of your life who are toxic, waste your time. Or overall lower your happiness level. But sometimes those people can't be removed right way. They may be family members or your boss.

Why Forgiving is necessary

If you get in a fight with your boss, He or she can make your life hell.
Most people spend a good amount of time at work. So that's most of your life that's going to suck if you hate your boss.
Of course, you can't always force yourself to "love" your boss if you just can't stand them.
But when you are angry at someone, They know. Conversations may be awkward. They may be mad back.
Really what gets accomplished?
While sometimes you can change their mind. Most the time you cannot. People are pretty set in their ways and won't budge.

When you forgive, You take control over the situation. You are releasing the negative feelings so they can no longer hurt you.
That gives you power. You also make things less awkward, so the family dynamic or the workplace will become more comfortable and less awkward.

They may not be experiencing the same pain as you.

When you are upset because of something they did. They may not care. So you are causing yourself to suffer longer than necessary. While they may not feel any remorse.
Forgiving isn't about giving them a second chance. Forgiving is about releasing the anger and pain you feel so you can be at peace.

By prolonging your suffering longer, If they are a toxic person you are giving them power. But by forgiving them, And remembering what they did. You can avoid trusting them on things, and protect yourself from further pain.

Forgiving is Healthy

We go through a lot in our lives. And it's easy to pile that anger up on the inside. If we have trouble letting go of those emotions and pain. It will destroy our self-esteem and our overall health.

If there are emotions that you have bottled up, Let them go.
You are only hurting yourself by holding onto the pain; You aren't hurting them.
