Hello community, today I will share with you my experience about snot, my son's best friend since he was born; the truth is that I have no choice but to make friends with them because when my son has a change of weather he immediately gets them, it is like a manual; my son is just coming out of a virus called hand-foot-and-mouth, luckily it lasted as long as the pediatrician said it would last but he immediately releases the virus and starts to get snot.
Many pediatricians tell me that snot is a line of defense for the body, although it is still annoying for children and even more so for babies since they do not know how to breathe through their mouths as we adults do when we have a stuffy nose and when they are like that they do not want to eat and they are always crying, actually that happens to my son.
Although I think that I became an expert in this case; as it is not good to be giving medicines to our children I just start giving him steam baths, at the time of bathing him first I heat the bath making it totally steamed, I put him in his bathtub with warm water and play with him for a while, this makes him exhale all that steam so that the snot comes out because my son does not let himself be nebulized so this has worked very well for me.
It has also worked for me to wash his nose, which I do once a day, preferably before going to sleep, because this way he will be more relieved and will not be restless because of the snot, although it is important not to force him because this is annoying for children, usually my son is not bothered by it, although before doing it I talk to him a lot so he does not cry.
Another thing that has helped me is the manual booger pump, for me this is great because it sucks up the boogers, although this is difficult to do with my son, but what I do is when I am breastfeeding him I have the booger pump with me so when he gets distracted I suck it up and that's how I can do it.
Even so, knowing what I can do when it's time for the snot to come out, it's still a bother for both of us, since for me it's sleepless nights because when he sleeps I feel he's choking with snot, he also stops eating and only wants to be on top of me all day, the truth is that seeing him like this all the time makes me uneasy.
I feel that he could be allergic since his father is like that, he always lives with allergies and even more when there are sudden changes in the weather; I just have to be very patient because this is important because all they do is cry, they don't want anything, it's hard but with a lot of love we can get through this.
