Blessed day my dear and appreciated Needleworkers. After two very active weeks in our community, today I am very happy to come and share with you a new project, inspired by all the wonderful ideas that came out of our Needlework Your Kitchen contest.
There were many amazing entries with very creative and practical projects. One of the most repeated projects was pot holders or pot holders for the kitchen.
We had the opportunity to see pot holders of different shapes, sizes, colors and designs.
So I didn't want to be left behind and I decided to make my own crochet pot holders.
Pot holders are items that cannot be missing in a kitchen. We need them all the time while we are cooking and we have to touch hot objects, such as pots, pans, pans. What should a good pot holder look like? Mainly it should be thick and made of a material that can resist heat.
So, Who says you can't make a grabber out of
crochet?
Well yes you can! We just need a strong and resistant thread like wick and a good pattern to start working.
There are various shapes and designs to make a pot holder and we could see that in the contest. However, I kept the most common and traditional shape, which is the square, since I wanted to weave them with granny squares. I chose a basic granny pattern and then played around with the color scheme.
I made several granny squares of six turns each and then put them together two at a time to make a two-layered potholder, so it would be more heat resistant. I also knitted them a small handle so that they can be hung somewhere near the kitchen.
Saludos y bendiciones.
At first I made a couple for myself and one for my mom, then I made others for gifts and then some commissions came up, so I've been very busy making custom pot holders. It's a good way to earn a little extra income while doing something I really like, like crocheting.
I encouraged you to try this pattern, I hope you like my designs.
Thank you for reading.
Greetings and blessings.
