Blessed day my dear needleworkers, I hope you are having an excellent week full of blessings. I continue working on my small crochet projects. There are many things I want to crochet to decorate my home, but I decided to start with the smallest and simplest projects.
El hilo pabilo crudo es uno de mis materiales favoritos para tejer tapetes, ya que les da firmeza y una apariencia rústica que funciona muy bien en la cocina.
Today I want to share with you a beautiful multicolored rug that I made with raw wicker yarn and leftover yarn from previous projects.
Raw pabilo yarn is one of my favorite materials for weaving rugs, as it gives them firmness and a rustic look that works very well in the kitchen.
Knitting with leftover yarn is always interesting to me, it's amazing what you can do if you put together small pieces of yarn of different textures and colors. This time, I used leftover colored wicks that I found in a box in my storage room. Here in Venezuela it is common to find this type of yarn in a variety of bright colors.
Para hecer este tipo de tapetes prefiero usar puntos bajos y tejer en espiral con la ayuda de un marcador de tejidos.
El punto bajo nos permite lograr un tejido más tupido y por ende más firme de lo que se obtiene con el punto alto.
I decided on a circular mat, as these are my favorite. Knitting circles is a little tricky at first, but after a lot of practice and with the right pattern it is easier to achieve a perfect circumference.
To make this type of rugs I prefer to use low stitches and knit in a spiral with the help of a fabric marker.
The low stitch allows us to achieve a tighter and therefore firmer weave than what is obtained with the high stitch.
I love the contrast formed with the different colors and the ecru wicking yarn. Some colors are more striking than others, but all together they make a beautiful result. This multicolored rug is the first of many rugs I plan to weave for my home, in different designs and colors.
It has been a pleasure to share with you one of my little projects that I am doing in this new stage of my life. Thank you for reading, greetings and blessings.
