This time I am responding to the call of my friend and colleague
Luego pensé que de igual modo podría mostrar los proyectos que he realizado desde que me mudé a este país. Por eso me arriesgaré a saltarme un poco las reglas para poder participar y cumplir con la invitación de mi querida Irene.
I found Irene's initiative very interesting, and from the first moment I knew I wanted to participate. However, it was not possible for me to locate the photos of my first knitting projects, most of those photos are on the hard drive of a computer at home in Venezuela, so I was a little disappointed.
Then I thought I might as well show the projects I have done since I moved to this country. That's why I will take the risk of skipping a little bit the rules in order to participate and comply with my dear Irene's invitation.
Before moving to Lima, I had not knitted wool hats, as the climate in my country does not lend itself to wearing hats, but here we are facing a cold winter for the first time. Therefore, I immediately knew that I had to learn to knit hats for myself and my family. My first hats were very misshapen, some very large and disproportionate and others very small. Until I started looking for patterns and instructions on the internet. Little by little I improved and became addicted to knitting hats. I loved combining colors and knitting different models, from the most basic and simple to the most complex.
In addition to the hats, we would also need other garments to protect us from the cold, none of these garments we had used before so I had not knitted any of them before either. So here I was encouraged to knit my first scarves, shawls, ponchos and slippers.
Handbags had always been my fascination, in Venezuela I knitted many handbags with nylon thread, for my family and some to sell. I knitted many colorful purses for my youngest daughter, she had more purses than an adult woman. Enthused with the great variety of materials available in this city, I started knitting purses again in different shapes and sizes. I have also knitted purses, pencil cases and cosmetic bags.
The amigurumis always seemed so beautiful and impossible to knit for me. Knitting such small pieces didn't seem so easy to me, but one Christmas I set myself the challenge of making knitted gifts for my children and nephews, so watching some tutorials on you tube, I took the risk to knit some dolls, all in big sizes since miniatures are not my forte.
When winter was over, I felt like continuing knitting, so I decided to learn how to knit cooler and lighter garments, ideal to wear in the summer season. In fact, I decided to create a collection of tops made with cotton yarn. Knitting garments is something I love to do, however they take a lot of time and some of them need a lot of material. That's why making replicas of dresses to scale became one of my favorite hobbies.
