Happy blessed Needle Monday, my dear fellow NeedleWorkMonday members, I'm glad to be back in the community to share with you another of my cross stitch embroidery projects. This time it is a very special bookmark that I made as a gift for a friend.
One of my friends had her birthday the first week of January and since I was on bed rest I had not been able to make her any knitted or embroidered detail, so I took advantage of this weekend when I felt better to make her a small detail with my own hands.
As I have told you before, I prefer to give handmade gifts because I think they are much more special than something I can buy in a store. When I propose to give something woven or embroidered, as in this case, I try to make the person identify or feel related to the gift.
When choosing the design of the project I think about the tastes and preferences of the person who will receive it and try to make something meaningful and special. In this case, I chose to make a bookmark, because my friend loves to read and on a visit I made at Christmas I could see that she has so many books that she could put them all stacked as a kind of Christmas tree.
During that visit, besides admiring her books, I was also able to meet her kitty Sira, whom she had just adopted. The little cat loves to be on top of her books, so when I found the design of this bookmark on Pinterest, I knew this would be the perfect gift for her.
I loved doing this project, since I was able to resume an activity that I enjoy very much and also because the design is very simple and entertaining. I hope my friend likes her gift.
