Earlier today I was on my way to a golf course here in New Mexico - where I hope to soon work at - and during my drive there, I was screaming along to some of the 2000s best hits. Those including: Hips Don't Lie by Shakira, Where is The Love by Black Eyed Peas, Survivor by Destiny's Child, Mr. Brightside by The Killers and so so many more. I can't remember which one in particular I was screaming to, but as I rolled down my window and a fly, beetle, whatever, flew into my mouth and caused me to start choking and fearing for my life as I was swerving and trying to find water to help the creature make the rest of its way down my throat.
My name is Kat Rae, and this is my daily life. I'd like to say that a lot has changed since I moved to New Mexico, but in reality, it hasn't. (Except that the amount of bugs I consume has gone up.) So far I am truly enjoying every moment of being here. I do miss all the beautiful mountains that surrounded Colorado, but New Mexico has some that I can drive to and feel at home once again. My favorite place that I have gotten to explore and truly experience here is Santa Fe. The activities, food, and people are all amazing and I can't get enough every time I go.
The one place I find myself always wanting to go back to whenever I go to Santa Fe is the churches, which is surprising since I don't follow Christian religion. Truthfully, I believe in a God, but not the one in the Bible. (That subject I can talk about another time.) However, I always want to go back to the churches because of how truly stunning they are - but I always want to go back to one in particular because of the story behind it. The Loretto Chapel has what is now known as The Miraculous Staircase in it, which some believe to have been built by St.Joseph himself or someone sent by him. It is said that the Sisters of the Loretta Chapel prayed a nine day novena to St.Joseph, (A novena is a special prayer said for nine consecutive days) on the ninth day a carpenter appeared, he built the stairs with a hammer and a carpenter square out of simple tools and wooden pegs. When the stairs were complete he disappeared without received payment, thanks, or recognition. Crazy, huh?! First time I was in the chapel hearing that story I got goosebumps and couldn't believe that someone could make something so perfect out of such simple tools with no help at all. Loretto Chapel, Google it - trust me - you won't be disappointed.
Now at this particular moment, I am sitting in my living room, stoned out of my gourd, watching 300. If you haven't seen that movie, please go watch it. It is an amazing true story, and a badass display of people getting they ass whooped. The scene that just played was when Leonidas screamed at the messenger "THIS IS SPARTA" and then kicks him into the well/pit. For those who haven't seen it, he does this because the messenger was being a little dickhead and then threatened him, so in the grand scheme of things, he got what he deserved. Well, when my brothers saw this as kids they immediately thought that this would be hilarious to do to me, their wee ginger snap of a sister, into a pool. I can admit now, if I were to do this to someone it would be funny as hell - but when I was younger - it was NOT that fun. Instead it was a stomach cramping, chest gasping for air, all while trying to swim up and not choke on water. Fun, right? At least it made me strong ass hell, so if you want to Spartan kick me, go ahead, 21 years of older brothers gets you ready for anything.
I know so far I have just told you about a chapel and about my brothers beating me up, kinda fluff stuff. I don't want to jump into everything too quickly and scare you away, because everyone who knows me knows, I could talk/write forever. So I am just sorta prepping you for my page. I hope now you are good and ready to get into the deep stuff, weird stuff, funny stuff, whatever stuff that comes to mind and whatever you want to read or know about.
Next blog, get ready to learn more about me as I go back to when I lived In Abingdon, Virginia up until I was 10 years old. I'll tell you about the time I first learned to ride a motorcycle (Spoiler Alert: didn't go well) , when I had my first crush and how awful at flirting I was, and why I moved back to Colorado all along. Get your reading glasses, popcorn ready, and take your pants off and get nice and comfy to get to know me. (I assume because I never wear pants around my house that everyone else doesn't. Don't you?)
Thanks for reading my blog. If you got this far, 5 points to Gryffindor, and I love you.
Keeping growing & glowing.
Kat Rae
