Hello community, this is my first post and I wanted to join in with a topic from damarysvibra@damarysvibra.

My internal state is conditioned by the perception I have of everything I see around me; I'm talking about simple things such as a gesture, a look, or an action that my brain detects as out of place, and automatically an internal alarm goes off that pulls me away from the situation. Sometimes I can't even find a way to explain what it is, but it happens to me—I suppose it's that sixth sense we women have, hehehe.

The first thing I feel is a sensation of emptiness in my stomach that is hard for me to control; I can clearly tell it apart from hunger and from pain. It's as if something were pulling me from inside, and when that happens, not even food goes down well. I can have the plate in front of me with my favorite food, but I can't eat in peace because my stomach closes up and I'm left with that strange feeling that something is out of place. Then I start going over everything that happened so I can analyze, piece by piece, what is going on.

Sometimes I stay still for a while waiting for it to pass, but as a rule I try not to sit there waiting for it: I learned to move so I can get the bad stuff out of me. And one of the things that helps me most is getting to work in my garden; taking care of my plants has become my way of venting. It's nothing out of this world: watering, removing dry leaves, moving a pot, checking if the soil is too dry, and even talking to them a little. It's as if being in contact with nature helps clear my mind.

I'm not saying I forget everything all at once—it doesn't work that way—but I do feel that the emptiness in my stomach gets smaller. I focus on the beauty of natural life and on what I care for with my hands, and in that moment I'm not thinking about what's happening outside; I'm thinking about and valuing the beauty I have in front of me. That helps me slow down, it forces me to breathe, and it controls my internal state.

I've also understood that my internal state is not something I should hide, and that although we don't always feel like smiling or saying everything is fine, life is changeable and everything can improve, and in the hardest moments my garden becomes my shield and refuge.

Another one of the things that helps me release energy is walking, going out for a stroll and seeing neighbors in the neighborhood helps me forget about everything and calms my internal state (I'm very talkative). In part I feel that socializing helps me establish a kind of homeostasis between my internal bad feeling and the reality of the world, which doesn't stop or cease flowing at a pace that for me is quite fast.
