SAGADA, YOU WERE WORTH EVERY KILOMETER. 🏍️⛰️❤️
I honestly don't know where to begin with this trip because there are just so many things I want to say.
If someone had told me before the trip that we would spend 26 hours going back and forth to Sagada on a motorcycle, experience freezing cold weather, get caught in the rain, see rocks falling from the mountain, get tired beyond words, and still come home with a big smile and a grateful heart, I probably would have said, “Are we really doing this?” 😂
But yes, we did.
And now that we're finally home, I can say that this is definitely one of those trips that I will remember for a very long time.
Sagada was beautiful.
Really, really beautiful. ❤️
The journey itself was already an adventure. Riding a motorcycle for hours through winding mountain roads is not easy. Your body gets tired, your back starts hurting, your legs get stiff, and there are moments when you just want to stop and rest.
But then you look around.
And suddenly, you forget how tired you are.
The mountains were breathtaking. ⛰️🌿
The roads gave us views that you simply cannot appreciate the same way through a picture. There were moments when I just wanted to stop and take everything in—the mountains covered in green, the clouds floating around us, the deep valleys, the trees, and the peaceful feeling that comes with being surrounded by nature.
There were times when I thought, “Wow, ang ganda pala talaga ng mundo.”
Sometimes we get so busy with everyday life that we forget to stop and appreciate the simple things.
Work.
Responsibilities.
Family.
Bills.
Deadlines.
The endless things we have to do.
And then suddenly, you're on a motorcycle somewhere high in the mountains, surrounded by clouds and trees, and you realize that life is also meant to be experienced.
Not just survived.
And Sagada reminded me of that.
But our trip wasn't all beautiful scenery and peaceful moments.
There were also moments when we were honestly scared.
The rain came. 🌧️
And riding a motorcycle in the mountains while it's raining is a completely different experience.
The roads became more challenging. Everything became slippery, visibility wasn't always good, and we had to be extra careful.
But what really scared us was seeing rocks falling from the mountain.
Imagine being on a motorcycle, traveling along a mountain road, and knowing that there are rocks coming down from above.
That's one of those moments when you suddenly become very aware of how vulnerable you are.
You can't control the mountain.
You can't control the weather.
You can't predict what will happen next.
All you can do is slow down, stay alert, be careful, and pray.
And believe me, we prayed.
A LOT. 🙏
There were moments when the adventure stopped feeling exciting and started feeling serious.
We weren't thinking about taking pictures anymore.
We weren't thinking about how beautiful the place was.
We just wanted to get through those roads safely.
And during those moments, I realized something.
Sometimes, we plan our trips thinking about the destination.
We think about the pictures we're going to take.
The food we're going to eat.
The places we're going to visit.
The memories we're going to make.
But we don't always think about the journey itself.
This trip reminded me that the journey matters too.
The difficult roads.
The unexpected rain.
The cold.
The exhaustion.
The moments when you question whether you should continue.
The prayers whispered inside your helmet.
The moments when you hold on a little tighter.
All of those became part of our story.
And then there was the cold! 🥶
Oh, my goodness.
Sagada was COLD. 😂
Coming from the usual warm weather we're used to, the temperature there was such a welcome change. The cold mountain air was refreshing, and honestly, there were moments when I just wanted to stay wrapped up and enjoy it.
It was the kind of cold that makes you appreciate coffee a little more. ☕😂
The kind of cold that makes you want to wear your jacket all day.
The kind of cold that makes you say, “Okay, this is definitely different!”
But despite the cold, the rain, the long ride, and the exhaustion, I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.
Because there are some memories that you don't measure by comfort.
You measure them by how much they made you feel alive.
And this trip definitely did.
After all those hours on the road, we eventually had to make our way back home.
And honestly, the ride home felt different.
We were tired.
Really tired.
But there was also a feeling of fulfillment.
We had made it.
We had seen the mountains.
We had experienced the cold.
We had laughed.
We had gotten tired.
We had been scared.
We had prayed.
And most importantly—
we were going home safely.
That part means more to me than anything else.
Because at the end of every adventure, no matter how beautiful the destination is, what matters most is getting home to the people who are waiting for you.
And when we finally arrived home, I couldn't help but say:
“Thank You, Lord.” 🙏❤️
Thank You for every kilometer.
Thank You for keeping us safe through the rain.
Thank You for protecting us when rocks were falling from the mountain.
Thank You for giving us strength when our bodies were already tired.
Thank You for allowing us to see the beauty of Your creation.
And thank You for bringing us safely back home.
Looking back, I think that's what made this trip so memorable.
It wasn't perfect.
Actually, it was far from perfect.
There were scary moments.
There were uncomfortable moments.
There were moments when we were exhausted and probably wondering why we decided to travel that far on a motorcycle in the first place. 😂
But that's exactly why it became a story worth telling.
Years from now, I may not remember every road we passed.
I may not remember every single place we stopped.
I may not remember exactly what we ate or what time we arrived at certain places.
But I know I'll remember the feeling of riding through those mountains.
I'll remember looking at the scenery and thinking how beautiful it was.
I'll remember the cold air hitting my face.
I'll remember the rain.
I'll remember the falling rocks.
I'll remember the moments we prayed for safety.
And most of all, I'll remember the feeling of finally arriving home.
Safe.
Tired.
Grateful.
Happy.
Sometimes, the most unforgettable adventures aren't the easiest ones.
They're the ones that challenge you.
The ones that make you a little scared.
The ones that push you out of your comfort zone.
The ones that make you appreciate the people you're with and the home you're returning to.
And this Sagada trip was definitely one of those.
26 hours on the road.
Thousands of turns.
Beautiful mountains.
Cold weather.
Rain.
Falling rocks.
Exhaustion.
Laughter.
A little fear.
A lot of prayers.
And countless beautiful memories.
Sagada, thank you for the breathtaking views and the unforgettable experience.
You were beautiful.
You were cold.
You were challenging.
You scared us a little.
But most of all, you gave us a memory we will carry for a long, long time.
And to everyone who loves traveling, don't be afraid to take that trip.
Go somewhere you've never been.
See something you've never seen.
Take the long road sometimes.
But always remember to be careful, listen to your instincts, and never forget to pray.
Because the best feeling after an adventure isn't just saying,
“We had an amazing time.”
Sometimes, it's simply being able to say—
“Thank God, we're finally home.”
Until the next adventure.
Sagada, you will always be one of those trips I'll look back on and smile. ❤️
