I created a lovely little dress for a female dog out of a handsome men's shirt, designed to keep her cool, comfortable, and stylish this summer while beautifully highlighting her coat. These are the kinds of projects I love doing most; transforming the look or structure of a garment into something completely different makes the whole process so much fun.

Donde cree una linda bata para cahorra de una hermosa camisa e hombre, para llevar un verano mas freco, cómodo y a la moda, resaltando con mucho estilo el pelaje de esta amiguita.
Este tipo de proyectos son los que mas amo hacer, pues el cambiar tanto la presencia o estructura de una prenda a otra completamente diferente, hace que el proceso sea tan entretenido.
As soon as I saw this shirt, I knew I would use it for various projects. But the urge to create a unique garment for a little puppy won out, and I ended up making this one-of-a-kind top using a special, delicate fabric.

Procedure:
1st step:
For this project, I started by cutting out the pieces that would make up the little dress. I used two wide strips for the straps and several rectangles for the skirt's fullness, the bow, and the bodice. Since the dog was quite large and chubby, I had to join several rectangles together to achieve a nice effect with the pleats.
1er paso:
Para este proyecto comence sacando las piezas que conformarían la batita. Desde dos listones bien anchos para los tirantes y varios rectángulos para vuelo, lazo y parte del top. Como era una perrita bien grande y gordita, tuve que empatar varios rectángulos para lograr un efecto bonito en los tachones.
2nd step:
I started by folding the straps for this piece in half and sewing a straight stitch along the wrong side of the fabric. Then, I turned them right-side out and secured the seams by stitching along each edge.
I attached the straps to the front and back bodice pieces, sewing them so they would be tucked inside. I also attached small loops to the sides—using the same method as for the straps—to allow for manual adjustment of the top's width using small ties.
2do paso:
Comence doblando por la mitad los tirantes de esta pieza, y pasando costura con una puntada recta por el revés de mi tela. Para luego voltearla al derecho y acentar las costuras con una nueva puntada cada lateral.
En los tops delanteros y traseros coloque los tirantes y pase costura, de manera tal que quedara por dentro. Como mismo tambien coloque unas orjitas en los laterales, para ajustar manualmente el ancho de la batica con ayuda de unas tirillas. Aplicando el mismo procedimiento que a los tirantes.
Step 3:
I built up the ruffle by layering the fabric strips two at a time, achieving a lovelier effect and a bit more volume; for the front section, the strip was shorter and positioned closer to the edge. The wider ruffle goes on the back (or spine) of the cachorra, while the narrower one belongs on the front (or chest area).
I took two strips of the same size and pressed them to set the hems, using these pieces as a waistband to cover the seam allowances while tucking the ruffle inside the assembly.
3er paso:
El vuelo lo fui montando de dos en dos los tablanos, logrando un efecto mas bonito y un poco mas de volumen. Y en el caso del delantero, el tramo fue mas corto y pegado.
A la parte trasera o lomo de la cachorra es donde corresponde el vuelo mas ancho y el mas fino al delantero o pechito.
Tome un pare de listones de la misma medida y planche para acentar los dobladillos, utilizando estas piezas para fajin, cubriendo asi los margenes de costura y colocándole asi el vuelo por dentro a esta pieza.
4th step:
I positioned the front ruffle on the inside, between the two pieces of the top—since the fold set better during pressing, this concealed the seam allowances.
Then, I took two strips and sewed them together along the side, wrong sides facing—these were to be the graduated straps—and attached them to the small side tabs.
4to paso:
El vuelo delantero lo coloque por dentro, entre las dos piezas del top, pues al plancharla estaba mas acentado el dobles, ocultando asi los márgenes de costura.
Luego tome dos listones y cosi por el lateral, reves con reves, estas serian las tiras graduales, y las coloque en las orejitas de los laterales.
