It had been a very long winter and we had all not seen each other for a good while due to reason X-Y and Z all of them there. Getting a moment to meet up where we all had the time and space wasn't that easy, but we made it happen.

And what turned out to be an even bigger challenge is getting a place to eat, if you are not that good in making reserverations. Everything is full like there is no inflation going on! Places are packed, bills are high, but people still want to go out and grab a decent bite and feel like there is nothing going on.

So when my friends suggested to head out to 'Brasserie Rita' I wasn't that high on expectations, mainly because of the name. A brasserie usually serves a typical standard type of food. And Rita here in Holland is more of a name here you would expect at a snackplace.

But boy what was I wrong, and that I why you need to keep assumptions out of here big time!

I mean already the appetizer with all types of different bites based on the flavour Vadouvan with also sweet to compensate the heavy flavours.
The afterwards a starter with shrimps and sweet and sour veggies was literally a treat to the mouth.

How do they come up with these kinds of things?

The next course was a dish based around a slice of mackerel which is surely not my favourite type of fish, but these felt entirely complete.

Best of all? It was all not that heavy on the stomach as sometimes these extreme flavours can sometimes be just a bit overwhelming.

For the main course this was really something fun. You can see some slices of red meat there which was really tender and decent. But we also had a pregnant friend with us who isn't allowed to have red meat ofcourse and they made her version just cooked enough that it was suitable and safe fer her as well, with still maintaining the idea of red meat in there. She loved it and it was cool that Rita made an extra effort to make it suitable for everyone.

As a desert there was a pink-themed white chocolate dish which was really awsome. The round part in there was based on the flavour of lavender and actually when you tasted it, it felt like you were in the spa or something with all of these natural vibes in there.

Super tasty!

What a surpise this place was! And honestly, for the quality of the food and the vibe that came with it, this was actually a lot more affordable than I had expected. What is also cool is that this place is located in an old monestary in the center of the city. The monestary was closed because of the lack of monks and the place is now turned into a hotel with a spa and restaurant.

On the one hand you could say that is a pity. But on the other hand because it is a hotel now the place is being very well maintained and that is also a way to preserve the building, which is also worth a lot!

What a surprise and I will surely come back here very soon!
