And there it was a couple of months ago, somewhere in a small post I saw that punk rock legends NOFX were doing their final tour and were also taking a stop in my hometown.
I didn't have to consider a second, and I wouldn't even care if no one would tag along, I just had to go and see them. For the nostalgia, this is literally what I grew up with! So I picked up some way overpriced tickets and would see later on what the deal would be.
The deal was a grand final exit tour with two days of stopping in Eindhoven with all kinds of bands accompanying NOFX to make it a great music festival in the middle of the city. Playing alonside were also 'Circle Jerks', 'Talco', 'Scream' and some other bands that I didn't see.
But it was all about NOFX and I wasn't the only one checking them out, 6000 tickets were sold on the Saturday.
I didn't know what to expect of the crowd but it was a lot of gray hair and people who had taken the time to come out of their normal setting. The venue was a square in my favorite spot in Eindhoven Strijp-S in between all of the new building. Boom, in the middle in the concrete jungle, but that is also what gives it the whole vibe. Everyone from the flats could also tag along in there and that also brings it to a bigger crowd!
Now I had made some nice little videos to upload here through Ecency and 3speak, but 3speak gave the message that it doesn't support videos under 15 seconds, which I consider the perfect snippet, so no videos this time!
The vibe was good, the sound was also better than expected in between all of these buildings and then there was the band, Fat Mike, Melvin with the dreads, and El Jefe and they have been in the game since 1983 (say whutttt!!!)
What NOFX does really weel is just make a lot of fun on stage, crack a tremendous amount of jokes that are all on the edge, topicing stuff about Jews (fat mike is a jew), gays, politics, rascism and whatever ese that comes to mind that they can mildly offend with without being harsh.
What I really loved is that they started playing a lot of songs from the 'punk in drublic' (anagram from drunk in public) album which to me is the favorite. Linoleum passed by quite early as Leave it Aloneand The Brews a parody on footballhooligans and ofcourse the banger Don't call me white and which is now a more acurate meaning them ever coming from a Jew and a Mexican guitarist.

From the 'Heavy petting zoo' album there were not a lot of songs passing by except for Hobophobic which they played in a sort of medley of like 10 songs all in a row. In general NOFX songs are like 1.5 minute long so that was not even a long deal haha. I kind of missed that there weren't a lot more from this album as I really like this one as well, although it wasn't that popular.
I remember getting the 'So long and thanks for all the shoes' album and also the cover of it, but I don't really remember listening very often to it. I guess for me then the NOFX hype had passed in my head and I went over to heavier guitars han this punk.
So there were also a lot of songs in the setlist from this weekend that I didn't really know, but honesly..it didn't really matter. It was all about the nostalia and that was surely there!
I loved that the stage was in the middle of the city and I also loved that NOFX as a band still had the fun factor in there. The crowd loved it going back in time and the vibe was friendlier than ever.
To be honest I had no idea that NOFX was still playing, and I guess since they are around since 1983 it is surely time to call it a quits. But that these guys made a lot of difference in a lot of peoples youths. Surely they did in mine!
