ENG/ESP Crochet flower headband. / Diadema de flores a crochet.

I didn't miss the opportunity to make a hair ornament for Rafaella and as I was practicing a daisy style flower pattern, I used them in a beautiful multicolored headband that she will have the chance to wear.

No pierdo la oportunidad para hacerle un adorno para el cabello a Rafaella y como estuve practicando un modelo de flores estilo margaritas, las aproveché en una hermosa diadema multicolores que ya tendrá la ocasión de usar.

I started to make these flowers with a crochet thread and although they look pretty, the petals tend to curl up because of the thinness of the thread. I thought it might be that I had made the petals too long, but I made a smaller one and the same thing happened. I tried with a thicker yarn, a cotton one that I mostly use for amigurumis and the result was better, but the first one I made with the same amount of crochet stitches was much bigger. I worked them with fewer stitches and they were even better. In the end I made five flowers in different sizes to find the most suitable and I think the one I liked the most was the light blue one, the size is very nice and it doesn't roll up too much.

Empecé a realizar estás flores con un hilo crochet y aunque quedan bonitas los pétalos tienden a enrollarse por lo delgado del hilo. Pensé que podría ser que había hecho los pétalos muy largos, pero realicé una más pequeña y pasó lo mismo. Probé con un hilo más grueso, uno de algodón que mayormente uso para amigurumis y el resultado fue mejor, pero la primera que hice con la misma cantidad de puntos en crochet, quedó mucho más grande. Las trabajé con menos puntos y quedaron aún mejor. Al final realicé cinco flores en diferentes tamaños para encontrar el más adecuado y creo que la que más me gustó fue la de color celeste, el tamaño es muy bonito y no se enrolla demasiado.

To make these flowers we start by making 12 medium high stitches in a magic ring. The amount of stitches in this first round will depend on the amount of petals we are going to make in each flower. Then we pick up 12 chains and skip four stitches of the chain that will replace the first double crochet, then 2 double crochets, 3 double crochets, 3 double crochets, 3 half crochets and a single crochet. We close with a slip stitch in the immediate stitch of the base.

Para hacer estas flores empezamos realizando 12 puntos medio altos en un anillo mágico. La cantidad de puntos en esta primera vuelta dependerá de la cantidad de pétalos que vamos a elaborar en cada flor. Luego levantamos 12 cadenas y saltamos cuatro puntos de la cadena que sustituirá el primer punto alto doble, luego 2 puntos altos dobles, 3 puntos altos, 3 puntos medio alto y un punto bajo. Cerramos con un punto deslizado en el punto inmediato de la base.

We continue with the second petal and pick up 12 chains again. The stitches we knit in each petal are knitted by taking the back strand of each chain, so that the chain is assembled at the edge of each petal. We finish the 12 petals and make a disk of 13 half-high stitches to place in the center of the flower.

Seguimos con el segundo pétalo y levantamos 12 cadenas nuevamente. Los puntos que tejemos en cada pétalo los realizamos tomando la hebra de atrás de cada cadena, así quedan la cadena armada en el borde de cada pétalo. Terminamos los 12 pétalos y realizamos un disco de 13 puntos medios altos para colocar en el centro de la flor.

We cut out a circle of felt for the base of each flower and once we have lined the headband with satin ribbon, we glue the felt discs to the headband and then the flowers on top of them.

Recortamos un círculo de fieltro para la base de cada flor y una vez que hemos forrado la diadema con cinta de raso, pegamos los discos de fieltro a la diadema y luego las flores sobre éstos.

I had first glued the flowers by placing the smallest one on the top of the headband, but it didn't look right. Luckily I used cold silicone and was able to rearrange everything. My little girl was very happy with her new headband and called it a forest princess headband. She has her own way of perceiving things and it makes me very happy that she enjoys it. Primero había pegado las flores ubicando la más pequeña en la parte superior de la diadema, pero no se veía bien. Por suerte utilicé silicón frío y pude reorganizar todo. Mi niña quedó muy contenta con su nueva diadema y la llamó diadema princesa del bosque. Ella tiene su forma de percibir las cosas y me hace muy feliz que lo disfrute.
