My orange cats have become quite independent and didn’t need to be around me as before. I felt like they used to be young teenagers feeling insecured to be far away from their protector. Now that they have become full grown adult ready to get a job and lead more independent lifestyle. My orange cats have started to stay away from the house after their breakfast. Usually they would come to the living room to sleep after breakfast. But these days, both Joan and Kwan disappeared for hours. I kept looking around the garden for them, buy I couldn’t find them at all.
This was rather unusual and I thought it was a one off thing. Perhaps Joan had persuaded Kwan on a hunt in the fields. But they disappeared after breakfast every day for a whole week. I wondered where they went and what was the attraction which kept them away from my company for half the day. These orange cats were very timid and afraid of engine noises. So, I had no idea they started to develop a new habit. I wished I had those small body cams attached to my cats so that I knew about their secret hiding places.
In a way, I was glad seeing my cats becoming grownups with more self-confidence and independent way of life. But I missed the old way they showed affection and trust towards me. They knew they would be secured and safe around me; I would protect them from all harm. So, they would sleep close to my presence. I suspected that Kwan found a hiding place in the bamboo woods nearby. Several years ago my neighbour’s dogs used to dig several holes for sleeping and as shelter from rainy storms. But these dogs were long gone and small snakes could be seen crossing the dirt road.
So, I was naturally worried about my cats’ safety. I hoped they wouldn’t sleep so soundly in the bamboo thickets. Joan seemed to like sleeping alone under my bed in the afternoon. It’s dark and quiet under the bed. Kwan would be crying out for Joan when she couldn’t find him in late afternoon. I had to take Kwan to join Joan under the bed to calm her down. In the long run, I would have the problem of trying to bring in new kittens to keep my cats less lonely.
It seemed orange cats had their own routine. After breakfast, they disappeared to their secret hideouts in the bamboo grove nearby. By afternoon, they both came to see me expecting some snacks. I would give them some to keep them happy. Then, Joan went to sleep under my bed while Kwan went to sleep in the east table. If the weather became cooler, Joan would be joining Kwan on the table. I was so glad that orange cats were still affectionate towards each other. I hope and pray for their good health and safety so they could keep me company and went for walks with me from time to time.
Wishing you peace, good health and prosperity.
Stay strong and cheerful.
