Heavy volatility in the digital currency bitcoin is nothing new, but recent trading activity suggests that investors hoping to see 2017’s massive gains extended into the new year shouldn’t hold their breath.
The world’s largest cryptocurrency has seen some massive price swings over the past few months. It went from about $10,000 at the end of November to nearly $20,000 by the middle of December, only to fall back dramatically, shedding more than a third of its value before showing some signs of stabilization.
