Once upon a time, as a child, when Mum brought me shopping and I was missing by her side, she'd know exactly where to find me. Amongst the bookshelves, sitting on the floor trying to finish a book before it's time to leave (and no, I never did finish and would wait for the next shopping trip).
I vowed that when I grew up, I would dedicate one room in my house to books. Ceiling to floor, wall to wall, just like in the movies. Fast forward today, it didn't happen and I don't even buy books anymore. It's cheaper to subscribe to apps like Scribd and Libby, and I don't have to watch my poor books turn yellow with brown spots while squashing those booklice/bookworms.
But when I walked into Kinokuniya, the old feelings came right back. I walked through the rows, flipping and touching and even considered buying a couple, but I stopped myself since I still have quite a few books at home to finish. I settled for pictures and took notes on titles to look for on my apps.
1 馃憠 The catalogue to take home, so you can browse through the books they have to your hearts content
2 馃憠 Best-sellers
3 馃憠 More best-sellers
1 馃憠 I was so sooooo tempted to buy this book. Check my background pic on my profile and you will understand why. My bestie recently introduced this word to me as I was explaining to her where I was at this point in my life. And she was like "IKIGAI" and I was "YESSSSSAA!!"
2 馃憠 Lat is a local graphic novelist popular with his work about a village boy growing up in the 50s. There is a whole series and it is based on his life. Lat is internationally known for the Kampung Boy series and we even have a little corner in town that showcases standees of the characters from these books.
3 馃憠 I spent time flipping through this book titled Book Nerd. If this is what it means, that I'll gladly be called one.
1 馃憠 This book just reminded me of a conversation I had with Dad about his sister being so upset that her daughter was not married. And I was trying so hard to explain, that being married is not the ultimate goal for a girl anymore and you should not get married for the sake of it. In a nutshell, it didn't matter what I said. I wonder if he will read this book haha
2 馃憠 So the calendars are out but I guess it is crunch time for it is already on sale.
3 馃憠 I booked Michelle Obama's audiobook on Libby 8 months ago and I am still on the waiting list. I was very tempted to grab this hardcover! Have you read Becoming yet?
1 馃憠 There were piano scorebooks for BTS fans. When I showed this pic to my girl later, she was so excited and wanted to get one. But they are not cheap but then again with Hive looking good...馃槣
2 馃憠 Lots of manga, games, comic paraphernalia corners. This one is dedicated to Demon Slayer (the kids had to fill me in with details later)
3 馃憠 What do you know?! Hallmark is still alive and kicking. I do wonder how many of these are sold in a year... even wedding invitations are being sent by SMS/WhatsApp these days...馃檮
1 馃憠 I used to collect The Chicken Soup For The Soul Series. I did not realise there were so many more published since I stopped collecting them.
2 馃憠 I was eyeing The Art of Sewing and even asked the staff if I could look in. There were 4 dress paper patterns included which is what I was really keen on. But I changed my mind after looking through it since I have always drafted from measurements taken. But if I do come across the Walkaway Dress pattern, who knows.
3 馃憠 How cute is this?!! Made me want to start crocheting again but stopped myself because yours truly wants to do every darn thing.
1 馃憠 @dswigle loves brain teasers and riddles and I knew I had to take a picture of these to share.
2 馃憠 Highlights for the season, books for kids
3 馃憠 Fancy wrapping papers to compliment the season.
And that's a wrap of Market Friday for me. This is a challenge by @dswigle to share your market experience on a Friday. Ok, I am not doing the initiative justice, let me just send you over to the ORIGINAL POST so you can find out more on how to join in the fun.
