Hello! Welcome to episode four of the Sims 3 Legacy Challenge, a challenge where we make fun of bad romance over ten generations of Sim-people and hope that other stuff happens too.

It's been a while since the last episode! And that's not from a lack of time, or interest, or trying, or whatever. My Sims had problems. I almost gave up. It was almost the end. But then a miracle happened!
So, about 9 days ago, I opened up the Sims and played up until the triplets morphed into children. Started expanding the Kael Legacy Home when a power outage struck. Three hours! Gone! Because I'm an idiot who has learned to save every 2 minutes in Bethesda games, but not in the Sims.
I wring my hands and wail, then grumpily decide to do it another day. Get to the point where my triplets morph into children. One of the triplets refuses to grow up. Not necessarily a problem, could be an interesting talking point, the baby that never ages... except it's a possible "new heir." In the event that Christopher never cures Melanie, this new child was going to be the heir.
Close it. Reopen it. The child still won't age! Ugh.
I google and google and google. Corrupt game this! Bad data that! Finally, the simplest of solutions smacks me in the face. There is a backup file in the savegame folder made 2 seconds before the one I've been playing. That one could work. Do it.
It works! Hallelujah! Each and every triplet grows up and life continues.

When we left off in the last episode, Alexandria had just given birth to triplets and Christopher didn't particularly care; he was more focused on the grim task of curing Melanie from her lycanthropy so she could be a suitable heir to the Kael Bloodline.
Perhaps to feel some modicum of affection during this trying time, and not quite understanding why Christopher was spending countless hours in his 'Man-Shed' instead of fishing for her garden (both a euphemism as well as literally speaking), Alexandria had the sudden desire to have yet another child with Christopher. A desire that was quickly pooh-poohed by Sims God Kaelci. Day-um. Five is enough! Are werewolves programmed to have litters? No other explanation for this many multiples.
Being that she's a rising celebrity, Alexandria gets invited to many parties! Unfortunately, she's starting to be recognised. Unsure as to how to react, she fidgets around for a bit while people take photos of her and hopes she can dash into her friend's house before anyone else on the street see's her.
"Ohmygosh, it's Alexandriaaaa!" cries one amazed partygoer. He's pretty handsome, she thinks to herself, maybe being recognised isn't so bad.
As the amazement of her celebrity presence wears off, Alexandria at last moulds herself into the party and does what she does best. Grabbing other people's food and kicking it up a notch to her Michelin Chef standards. People in Sunset Valley need to learn how to cook, she silently scoffs.
The day has come for the triplets to morph into toddlers. Alexandria is currently unimpressed with motherhood and just wants these goblins out of her house so she can focus on her destiny. Why hasn't Christopher been helping her raise these demons? Damn him! Damn them!
Performing the Birthday Rite. Rise young child, RISE!
The triplets have morphed into three tiny redheads! Alexandria has a choice to make. Will her heir be first-born Melanie? Or will one of the redheads claim her throne? She wanders into the local spa, at midnight, for some much-needed pampering and contemplation.
Fresh from the spa and feeling on top of the world after a week of depression, Alexandria decides to spend some time with her red-haired brethren and get to know them. The heir-y decision will be made upon teenage-hood she decides.
Meanwhile, Melanie, current heir, thought she would go outside and play in the snow for a while. Unfortunately, because her mother is a celebrity, there are paparazzi everywhere. There is also a full-moon on the horizon. Her first. She doesn't even know she's a werewolf yet, but she hungers... and that paparazzo flashing a camera in her face looks like prime human steak.
It's dinner-time in the Kael Household, and twilight has fallen... Melanie's first full-moon brightens the sky, and to Christopher's shock and dismay, the heir transforms before his wife's very eyes.
The wolf is out of the bag.
Alexandria very calmly demands, "Get that thing out of my house," and chooses to focus her attention on one of her many red-headed daughters.
"I'm trying to fix her!" Christopher exclaims, in a sullen whisper.
"See that you do!" Alexandria huffs, wincing at the shrill wolf-howls.
"Please stop scratching everything!" Christopher pleads, hoping that Alexandria won't notice the torn fibres and shredded fabric when next she sleeps. "I can't cure you and watch you at the same time."
After much magic and pleading to Sims-God-Kaelci and lesser God Google, the triplets have finally morphed into children. Melanie proves how much of an animal she is by eating cake on the toilet.
Losing himself in a videogame, Christopher tries not to look at his cursed daughter and hurriedly contemplates things. He needs a Glow Orb. He has never seen one of those in his life and none of the shops seem to stock it. Curing Melanie is becoming harder than he thought it would be. And time is running out.
The full moon fades and Melanie reverts to a more human appearance. Horrified, she pulls at her eyes to make certain she's normal again.
"My god," she softy cries. "I'm an animal..."
While her older sister cries and despairs at the curse running through her blood and veins, Insane, Outdoor-Hating Lucille proudly walks past, dressed as a princess, certain that she will now be the chosen one.
Alexandria does nothing to dissuade her from that notion. Ever since she discovered her first-born child was a cursed animal, she has focussed the entirety of her attention on her ginger-brood. She reads a cooking book to Lucille to send her to sleep.
"Onions, though enemy of your eyes, are best friend to food," she reads aloud. May Lucille become as good a chef as she is, she inwardly prays.
At a loss as to what to do, how to create his cure, how to find a fabled mushroom that only exists in stories, Christopher spends his time painting, making some quick money for a much needed house expansion.
Apparently if you stake out a celebrity together for long enough... emotions flare.
Christopher continues to paint and paint and paint, and does not allow the two paparazzi behind him distract him from his noble task of creating house-expansion money.
Not only is Alexandria teaching Lucille the ways of a Kitchen Goddess, she also chooses to enroll the dear child into the same school she once went to - The School of Peace and Love.
Mini-Alexandria, possible future heir, will be trained well, she thinks to herself with a smile.
With two of her brood in boarding school, Alexandria attends yet another house party! Bored with what's going on in the entertaining area, she waddles off to an empty room and spies a nice taper.
Taper? What taper? There was no taper here!
But it does look nice next to my couch, she smirks.
At last! We have enough money for a somewhat decent renovation! 😀
Moving all the stuff out onto the lawn and into a magic box, the Kael family crack their respective knuckles and start guiding a bunch of builders to do their bidding.
The Kael Legacy Home is starting to look like a proper home! One day, maybe one day, it will become a manor that far exceeds that of the Landgraab's.
"Of course it will!" Alexandria struts inside and dreams dreams of what her future heirs will do to this place.
The renovations finalise in time for Alexandria to host her own birthday party. No longer young, she is a proper adult, a proper citizen of Sunset Valley!
The people cheer at her coming of age, she doesn't even mind her werewolf daughter staring at her with hungry demon eyes. This is her day! She. Is. Adult.
No longer a stranger to her celebrity status, Alexandria happily poses for photos. Malcolm Landgraab wasn't invited to her party, but she doesn't care; she will pose anyway!
"Enjoy the cake," she beams.
With her party finished, Alexandria trots to the bathroom to see how she's aged. Apparently when she became an adult, she tried to defy the transformation with a childish hairstyle. That just will not do, she grimaces while brandishing the scissors.
Christopher rummages through Alexandria's garden, hoping that some illusive mushrooms might have cropped up during the frosts, and gets ambushed by Melanie.
"I'm a fricken werewolf!" she cries. "You said you'd cure me. You promised!"
"I want to cure you, I really do!" Christopher buries his head in his hands. "The potion needs a mushroom that doesn't exist. I'm trying, sweetie!"
Melanie is now a teenager. A teenage werewolf. Christopher's time is running out!
As in Legacy Challenge fashion, we have randomised her newfound trait - she is now a slob.
Fitting for an animal, her mother sniffs.
"Hey guys, I'm a dorky teenager!"
Get thee to a mirror! Sims-God-Kaelci demands. After rummaging through a magical wardrobe, Melanie emerges looking like a beautiful young.... werewolf.
Christopher closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. She will be Alexandria's heir. He must find the magic mushrooms before it's too late.
Sims-God-Kaelci returns to the almighty Google and discovers if a sim buys out the entire inventory of the Alchemy Shoppe, sometimes Glow Orb Mushrooms will come into stock.
"Please, help me!" Christopher grabs the Alchemist by his collar and shakes him around for a bit. "All my money! Take it! I need GLOW ORBS, stat!"
"Alright, alright, chill out, mannnnnn."
The alchemist gives him a mushroom, after presumably keeping all the stock for himself and his special mushroom 'teas'.
Soon after Mushroom Acquisition, a burglar rampages through the Kael Home. Thankfully, they have an alarm which quickly alerts them, and the police, to the intruder.
Christopher clutches the mushroom in his pocket. The thief had to be after it. This was no coincidence.
The police soon arrive to apprehend the would-be burglar, but, distracted by sexy teenager, the policeman fails in his duty and allows the burglar to escape.
It wasn't all bad though. Thanks to this unexpected burglary, Melanie decides that she wants to join the police-force one day and become an expert at forensics.
With a future goal to live towards, Melanie returns to bed a happy teenager.
Unfortunately, the next day shone a full-moon in her face.
"Dammit," she growls, cursing her father and his inept Alchemy abilities.
Unbeknownst to Melanie, however, he has in fact created the almighty Return To Normal potion! He will cure his daughter. He will, he will! He just has to find her...
Hold on a minute. He raises an ear and listens. What's that sound?
It's Melanie! Rummaging through the garbage.
With determination gleaming as a fire, burning within his heart of hearts, Christopher bolts from his Man-Shed and with perfect precision he throws his potion at his daughter, triumph spreading as glass shatters.
"Wolf!" he yells. "I cast thee out! The mushroom spirit compels you!"
Melanie is cured! Christopher rejoices and prepares to tell Alexandria the fantastic news. But first...
...Christopher leaps into the sandpit in a fit of childish glee, exuberant with his accomplishment, proud of his success, and begins telling a journalist all about how he, Christopher Kael nee Steel, cured The Burgeoning Kael Legacy of Lycanthropy before it became a larger problem.
The journalist smiles and nods, and probably writes about the mental capacity of Celebrity Alexandria's husband.
