It's been a slightly cooler day here in the UK after our latest heatwave. So I have been in the garden doing a few odd jobs with my wife. I was going to write a longer post then this, however my eyes are playing up a bit. So I was quite pleased when this little fella paid a visit.
Bumble bees are becoming rarer these days, along with solitary bees, so it's always nice to see one in the garden. There is something calming about watching a bumble bee lazily going from flower to flower with it's leg sacs full.
I'm not sure what the plant its on is called. I only planted itvthis year, and I'm not good at remembering the names of plants. All I know is that it has these beautiful feathery flowers and that the bees love them.
I looked up the species of the bee and it would seem that it is a White Tailed Bumble Bee. If you look closely you will see its white tail. I managed to disturb him when I photographed him, and he flew towards me. I could feel the air being fanned by his beating wings on my bare arms. Hopefully he will return to finish off his meal.
