A few things in life can turn your existence upside down like a new baby!
My wife was expecting a baby any day now. Our 3 year old is a very (ver, very) energetic and lively little one. He is a big boy and can be a pleasant handful sometimes. Yesterday we were rearranging some things in our place in preparation for the new arrival, and our son proved to be quite difficult in that particular moment. At that moment, I put my arms around her and said that things will be okay. We both laughed at each other and she sighed ridiculously and said "honestly, why do we do this to ourselves". Literally at that moment it all started.
Last night, April 1st, Easter Sunday, April fool's day, my amazing wife gave birth to a 4.3 kg (9.48 lb) baby boy. The one day in the year that she didn't want him to be born on is April fool's day. Haha, well, I guess her wish didn't come true. He will probably never live it down at school. That's if people even believe him that it's his birthday.🤕
We were blessed with a healthy and peaceful baby. It's unreal. He is actually here, we can hardly believe that he has us as parents. You know, at times like these I miss my parents. Being a young parent, I have often wanted my mom or my dad's advice. What I have opted to do is to try and remember how I was taught as a child, and try to identify what was effective and then try to apply it to my situation. All I can say is that life is going to be quite interesting for the next little while as I try and finish off my MSc.
My biggest advice that I would give myself from my 5 years of marriage would be to take it one day at a time. There were so many times that I felt overwhelmed when I thought of the long journey ahead. It all seemed to minimise when I lived in the present. Now, I'm gonna try and follow my own advice haha 😂
Keep us in your prayers. I'm sure a lot of you can relate to this. Keep well and Happy Easter ☺
