Existential Rant #2

Thanks everyone for the amazing comments on my previous post! Seeing them didn't put a smile on my face just because they showed people could relate to me, but also because they helped me realize that this is the content you guys want to see, thus making me feel like my work is valued.


"Does God exist, or does he not?" is the last question you want to ask in many religious households. This is completely understandable since God and his works are the reason these people live the way they do, and questioning if someone has been living their whole life wrong usually isn't going to be taken too kindly. I may not be an expert on all religions, but I can surely tell you a thing or two about Christianity. In Jude 1:22 it is stated, "And have mercy on those who doubt," showing that the Bible gives full support to those who may be skeptics of their faith. Infidelity is as old as religion itself. As stated earlier, there is a connection between morals and the religion someone follows. For example, religions such as Christianity and Islam have historically appealed to the poor more than the wealthy due to their emphases on helping those who cannot help themselves. While it may be a sad realization, these religious morals usually translate to an aspect of the material world, with money being the example here. Another example of this is prayer. Many Christians have a misconception that God will work to give you your way in this world as long as he sees what you want just; you just have to pray for it. However, any priest, pastor, etc. will tell you prayer is simply a form of meditation. What's to blame for the misconception? Our constant wanting to live a better life, which is exactly why we follow religion. In regard to if I personally believe in God, I absolutely do. At the same time, I myself often have moments of doubt, such as when I wonder what type of a God would allow for things such as suffering to go on in the world he has created. Maybe who suffers what and who is born where doesn't matter to him. Maybe all that does is what we make of it.
