Konichiwa! How's everyone theanimerealm@theanimerealm ? I was supposed to post this last Sunday but I was not at home. I spent 2 days with my nieces and nephews and we played games and had a movie marathon. Anyways, I will share to you my fanart for this month from the Anime: Witch Hat Atelier.

I knew about this anime because it got so much hype all over the social media and saw artists that I look up to sharing their beautiful fanarts on twitter. And just like Frieren, I didn't watch it while it was aired. Actually I almost forgot about until last month XD. Did it live up to hype? For me, it absolutely did. The world building alone got me excited and I like how the story is paced that it leaves you more curious about the characters. The animation is also beautiful and breathtaking, Bug Film Studio did an amazing job. Magic in this anime is also different from other fantasy anime, instead of using mana and incantations, you draw seals with ink to cast magic.

The character that I drew is Coco, the main protagonist in the anime and in the world of witches, she is an outsider that has a great fascination on magic and that fascination led to an unfortunate event to her mom. She has this warm, kind-hearted, and bright personality like a sunshine that uplifts and lightens the mood of everyone. And that personality radiates to the viewers, that is why I chose her for my fanart this month.

I tried a different approach of sketching where you start drawing the silhouette of the character first and you'll just paint the details later.

After that I started painting the background and then I painted her clothes with base colors using the same method as the sketch, focusing on the silhouette.

I started rendering her clothes first. I also adjusted the shape of her cape to look more dynamic.

The next step I made is to render her skin and adjusted her right hand to look more elegant. I also painted her face.

I continued to render her hair, cap, and eyes. I also added textures or hatching lines all over her clothes.

I rendered the path last and added the illuminated stone path. I also added some hatching lines on the path.

For the Final magic touch, I added some colorful sparks or lights on the background and I added a subtle glow on the path. I also adjusted the height or proportions of the character because I made her way too tall. And that is all the magic creating this artwork. I'm glad I tried this method because I really enjoyed the process from start to finish.
