As the speeding car, driven by a 7 year old, hit the pile of luggage outside the hotel, in an explosion of suitcases and clothes, I woke up in a panic.
I was exhausted by my real efforts to take control of the runaway vehicle.

Do you dream in technicolour and action to the point that you wake your partner trying to get a decent night’s sleep?
I often do and feel awful as he drags his bleary eyed self around the following day.

I once crawled over the top of his dead asleep self and tried to haul him to safety in the curtains. The imaginary intruder in my very REAL dream, was leveling his gun at us.

You’ll be thinking I need help and I got advice.
I gave up caffeine. Things are better but sadly, not perfect.

This morning as I stumbled to the bathroom I was stunned to see my familiar and much loved hiking sandals lying askew on the carpet. I even nudged them with my foot to see the damage……………….?
Truly they had been BURNT to smouldering wreckage by someone who had thrown them into flames.
'Whew!' I thought in passing, another vivid dream.

Can we afford to dismiss all dreams though?

My own dad dreamt improvements to his mechanical inventions and he kept a pad and pencil next to his bed so that he could quickly draw the revelation before it went the way of most dreams. More were worthwhile than rubbish but we often laughed over the squiggles on that paper!

Look at Joseph in the bible.
He was sold into captivity by his jealous brothers.

He had dared tell them of his dream of wheat sheaves (representing his brothers) bowing to his upright wheat sheaf.
THAT actually happened years later when Joseph had risen by his skill at interpreting dreams in prison. He became Prime Minister under Pharoah in Egypt.
The brothers, desperate to buy food indeed bowed down to Joseph (looking just like a smooth shaved Egyptian) when he gave them sacks of grain so they didn’t have to starve.

So when is a dream prophetic? Or when is it a bit of nonsense stirred up by last night’s too rich dinner?

I had a strange dream of gold coins falling into my lap in the early hours of this morning and I woke very excited.
I phoned my sister and begged her to come with me to the casino quite a distance away.

Her response?

She burst out laughing and said she’d to talk me later when I’d had a chance to recover.

My nose is now itching and though I’m definitely not superstitious the lure of gold coins is tempting.
But the memory of that 7 year old driving my car worries me.

I’m beginning to think my sister is right after all.
