ENGLISH

I left an hour before sunrise to climb the hill "El Café". Twenty minutes of walking through the lonely streets awaited me. One of the objectives was to take photographs that would cause terror. I stopped at several places along the way to capture those images, thinking that by looking for the five legs to the cat I would find something I would not like.

As I progressed, thoughts of things that dwell in the dark became frequent. I shooed them away rationally, not allowing myself to be suggestible for the moment. The houses looked older than usual. The lights on the poles invited one to cross a street, but the shadows beyond their boundaries were so dense that I dared not set foot on them.

I stopped in front of houses whose facades were begging for a fresh coat of paint. I approached a window to take a picture of it, but I heard voices and walked away. As I crossed the next bend, the sound of a drop falling on the awning of a bodega was the only thing I could hear. It sounded like someone tapping their finger on a wooden table. Over and over again. As if there was meaning in that sound.

I continued on my way and bumped into a woman on her way to work. Up ahead, a motorcycle appeared on a corner. The driver saw me and sped away as if he had seen a ghost. I arrived at the residences near the hill. A man was taking out the garbage. When he saw me, he threw the bag on the ground and rushed into the house. After passing in front of his house, when he realized that I was not that kind of person, I heard the gate open again.

It was not long to go. The darkness grew thicker. I stepped into a wolf's den and soon after the light returned. I stopped under a pole and took pictures of my shadow. As I did so, I heard something moving. I looked around and found a huge black dog. My reaction was to stand still and control my breathing. I didn't even think about taking pictures of it. I just wanted it to go away.

A minute later, the dog passed me and went on its way. I breathed a sigh of relief and went into the foothills. As evening fell, I started to edit the photos. The first one is the most disturbing because it looks like there is someone at the door watching me. I left the original below so you can appreciate it.

In the end, I got the scare with the dog and then with that photo.

This is my participation in the initiative Your scariest moment!, organized by the Zona de escalofríos community. I thank aibi93@aibi93 and elbuhito@elbuhito for the invitation. I'd like to know what you guys think about the first photo, what could it be?
