You twist and bend, dig deep underground.
At shores, you felt them underneath, perhaps hiding behind the rock.
Behind you has just the same aim
Carapaces meat, they are nice to eat
Fleshy, corpulent, pungent and flavorful too
Slow, gradual, creeping creatures
Innocent, naive, they crawl to the stones and sleep
Their peaceful life was instantly disrupted.
Meat should be cooked, grilled or made into a soup
Shells are to be dried for they can become a bead or jewel for the eyes.
Are shells still bountiful this day?
