Hi everyone

Thank you to yingtaew@yingtaew for advice me :-D

We all have seen the pictures or movies of the “Wild West” in the western part of the United States. There are very few towns today that resemble those earlier days. However, a trip to Oatman Arizona gives you and your family a chance to see the West as it was years ago.

Over 500,000 visitors go to Oatman each year. They go to see the remnants of a gold mining town in the Black Mountains. You are amazed at the landscape of rock, cactus and older buildings. People go there for hiking, camping and overall site seeing.

The Oatman Hotel goes back to 1902 and is well known for historic weddings. The city streets and buildings are kept to retain their historic feel of the old west. For those of you familiar with Route 66, Oatman is came to came because of its location on a road that was “the only small highway road” years ago.

Can you believe only 128 residents live in Oatman? Most are employed in tourism as the city does it’s best to entertain the visitors with shows, visiting historic gold mines and more. The name of the town came about from an old folklore story of a woman kidnapped by Indians and she was rescued in this location and her last name was Oatman…so now you know some history.

It’s fun seeing these older cities and traveling old highways. You see a part of America you seldom see in social media or other. I hope you enjoyed the photos and my story of this “Wild West” town. :-).
