I don't know if Martin Luther King, when he had that splendid vision of a new world, which he defined as a dream, also harbored the hope of one day seeing a black angel, other than, necessarily, that of Death.
I know that a long time before him, there was also a singer, Antonio Mach铆n, in one of whose most famous and unforgettable songs, he reproached the artists for never having painted little black angels, a version that was later modified by fellow singer Basilio, who transformed to the angels in another symbol of beauty and freedom: the swan.
At first glance, what I show you in these photographs, protruding above the roofs of my city, Madrid, may seem, at first, the unmistakable figure of a black angel.
But it is not, since it is an allegory of Victory, which, I want and wish to believe, which also encompasses, within its great concept, the greatest Victory to which Humanity can aspire: to definitively overcome its prejudices racial.
