For the noble and immortal knight Don Quixote -born unexpectedly, in the inextricable labyrinths of the fantasy of Don Miguel de Cervantes- these spectacular windmills, characteristic of a well-known region of Hispania of Gárgoris y Habidis, known as La Mancha, represented monstrous giants that had to be fought, as his particular and honorable vision of reality dictated. That inalienable syncretism, of seeing life and its circumstances in their own way, was promptly judged and described as madness, by all those whose Voltairean rationalism did not allow them to see beyond the horizon of their own noses and consequently, they converted our subjective visionary , in a dissident from reality -or rather, from his reality- who had to be fought with all the strength of the intransigence of an apparent reason, which after all, creates monsters more dangerous than the windmills themselves. The good thing about the theme is that our honorable knight lived happily in his madness and died in a poetically Machadian way: at peace with everyone and at war with his entrails.
