Chittagong's voluntary organization 'Nagarul' has been working for a long time with the help of street students who can come to the light, get education, and wear new clothes.
The organization's journey began in June 2015. Urban entrepreneur Baijid Suman told Risingbd, "When I went shopping in Eid 2015, the dirty face of two street-boys hurriedly stirred me, stirred my mind, decided to do something after seeing them dirty. We organize many more through Facebook, inform about the familiar friends. Many people responded to the call, thus began the journey of Nagarful.
The organization's aim is to educate street children and establish their rights in the society as a flower of the city. The organization, which is named as 'Nagarful Holiday School', is organized every Friday for these street children, considered to be unskilled in the society.
The students of the city are taken every Friday morning and afternoon with 6 points including CRB, Sholashahar, DC Hill, Agrabad Shishu Park, Cantonment New Para Railway Station, Patiya Railway Station. At present, the number of children in the city's school is more than 500. And these holiday school classes take classes, members of the organization, who are studying at colleges and private universities including University of Chittagong. From the established 'Health Service', a group of experienced doctors and medical students, provides medical treatment to these children at different points of Chittagong.
Biojid Suman told Risingbd, "After the start of the work, the changes in these pathships are noticeable, they are better than ever, their old habits gradually started to be avoided."
All these children are given from the books and accounts of the members of the educational institute from the accumulated fund.
Nagarful's Organizing Secretary Touhidul Islam said, "Poverty has turned them into street shadow. Nagarul's activities are to illuminate the education of the underprivileged people in this society.
The organization distributes winter clothes and Eid dresses every year. Besides, cultural events organized on different days, where there is dance, singing, poetry, recitation, drawing competition in the development of street children's merit. At present there are 200 members of the organization.
Nagaraful general secretary Omar Faruque said, "We want to introduce holiday schools at every point in the city to make future children as beautiful flowers."
