I saw a tweet recently where someone says that make $120k a month. They talked about heavily automating their workflow with AI which helps when to actually make a lot of money, but people began to wonder if he makes that amount of money, why would he actually bother with charging 100 to 200$ in mentorship.
It felt like a red flag to him, and other people raised the question too. However I laughed at the idea because, truly that might be making 120k a months and also charging people for course or mentorship.
The reason is because money is never enough. While someone can technically retire if they make 120k a month for a year, a lot of people will still not retire when they hit $1.2M in revenue that's just about enough for them to make a few investments which helps them to continue making profit while they retire.
Sometimes it just comes from being inherently greedy; the feeling of never having enough even though they technically have enough. Sometimes it's also the idea of not wanting to give out something for free.
For example, I bought a subscription mentorship sometimes back, and while I've learned a lot from the mentorship, the ideas and skills still haven't yielded any dividends for me, so when the subscription expired, I reach out to the mentor and ask them what we could do since the subscription required renewal.
They told me that I would need to renew a subscription. Even though they know I paid heavily for the first subscription what lasted for about 2 months. Now this fellow already earns like 15 to 20k in dollars every month, and 100$, 50 or 25 in a month wouldn't change their take-home much.
Also, the knowledge being imparted hasn't yielded the kind of growth that it was supposed to, and paying for another renewal would be foolish at this point considering the fact that there are honestly no guarantees that it'll ever work.
However, this fellow can choose to continue the mentorship and subscription access to use their paid tool, pending when I can start making my own money, but they're bent on getting the renewal which I'm opting out of simply because I wasn't sure it would yield results and I cannot afford to spend as I would like to.
However if this fellow has multiple paying for their subscription service, let's say 20 people and she charges like 50$ each per month, that's $1k in a month, add that to her already established 15k a month and you'll have 16k.
Now while 1k might not be as financially impacting, since they already have 15k in monthly earning, the fact they feel like they won't want to share knowledge for free is why people who are already rich can charge fees, simply because they don't want to get the illusion that they're giving away knowledge for free.
The fake winners
Now on the other hand, we have people who are larpers. They share fake screenshots, fake earnings and even show you Photoshops of their bank account and all that because they know that people will pay for mentorship when others can show them a proven result.
Mentorship or selling a course in itself is a job, you need to be very convincing to actually do this. Sometimes you have to be very deceptive, and one of them is living a fake life, which eventually helps you to make money.
Sometimes I believe the best formulas in life that continues printing money are never sold to the public.
The winning formula is hardly on sale
For example if I have a formula that works and print money, why share it publicly when I can show it to my family member, get 20 to 30% of their lifetime cut and enrich myself, while still keeping the formula that prints exclusively within my domain.
However there are information that are priceless and going for a lot of money, and the people who are sharing this are probably less greedy, more benevolent and probably just wants to transform the life of others for almost free.
I think anyone will pay anything to get the most exclusive information that can make them rich, the problem is not knowing the people who have this information and are actually saying the truth about having it.
