[ENG/ESP] Aspects Of Sustainability and Holistic Living That Are Important To Me
Greetings Friends of #ECOTRAIN! today I would like to start with this fabulous topic that talks regarding what for me means and what aspects are important regarding two very used terms in recent times, Sustainability and Holistic living.
Sustainability
Sustainability defined in its simplest form is managing resources to meet the needs of today, without compromising the needs of the future source in this sense has been strongly associated with respect to nature and nature's resources, opening a debate regarding the use and maintenance of natural resources by organizations, however often the term is not used from the individual point of view because it is assumed that the results of individual action do not affect the resources as much as the combined ones.
We all have an individual responsibility whose repercussion can affect the behavior of others, for example if a person throws garbage in front of his house, a behavior detrimental to the environment, suddenly a passerby who is eating a candy decides to throw the wrapper, If at work there is a person with a very noisy behavior, it affects the rest of the group and the sustainability of the work environment.
However there are other aspects of life that can be considered as resources that we must take into consideration, for example, we are a natural element, our body as well as natural resources can also be damaged by our actions such as poor diet, sedentary lifestyle, vices, bad sleep.
In the same way we can consider our mental health and emotions as resources that may or may not be maintained over time depending on our actions, in this case we must consider, our dealings with others, anger management, stress, assertiveness, as elements that can improve or harm the sustainability of relationships and our mental health over the years.
From the point of view of individual sustainability I consider that we must perform actions that allow us to maintain the good things in our lives for longer, in relation to our health, our family, work and set an example affecting in a positive way, this includes religion and beliefs, if people do not perform or believe in the dogmas of religion these disappear, they are sustained by the individuals who are part of them.
Holistic Living
Holistic is a term that allows the application of diverse knowledge within a particular subject, The word "holistic" comes from the Greek word, holos, which means everything, and refers to the practice of wellness for the whole body, ie body, mind and spirit.source
In this sense it means that holistic allows to take all those resources that can be used to apply them out of the established norm even, since from the theory of scientific research it seems that the human being has divided the orientations of the sciences by subjects, which are mutually exclusive, this in consequence of the established, then people are seen as body, mind and spirit, in separate ways when we form a whole.
In this sense, if people have any ailment or disease, they go to the treating physician, without considering other aspects that are not physical that may be affecting them, or on the contrary, they only go to those spiritual aspects without taking into account the medical considerations.
If we live a holistic life, we must take into account many aspects of our behavior that allow us to establish a balance between body, mind and soul.
In order to live a holistic and sustainable life, the following aspects must be considered.
Nutrition: If there is something in which agree all those who speak of having a holistic lifestyle, is to have a good diet, you should avoid overeating, and bad habits, in particular I think that food reflects how we feel as people, so even traditional medicine has realized the effect of the mind with respect to overweight and these patients are treated with psychologists.
Exercise: this goes hand in hand with the above but doing physical activity should be about our well being, I have seen people who are obsessed with competition, or physical appearance end up quite badly, because they exercise for the wrong reasons.
Relationship with nature: we are part of a whole and collaborating with our environment is important to have a holistic life, in this sense sustainability in its most common sense takes part of our considerations.
Spirituality: keeping in touch with ourselves allows us to have control of how we react to the things around us, we feel better, and we listen to our body, which is very wise, the human being hides a great knowledge in the subconscious that we can only access through spirituality, connecting with our soul, is something that every day more and more people talk about, and it is very important.
Relationships: Just as we connect with ourselves we must also do it with others, the human being is social and will not reach total well being if we do not connect with others, our family and closest friends, I would go further kindness is a necessity, making small gestures allow us to obtain a sense of joy for our soul.
Learning: I have been convinced for some time that we are on this earth to learn, and this cycle of growth never ends, in all areas we can grow in knowledge, and thus be useful to us and others.
These considerations for me are the elements that a Holistic and sustainable life must take into account in order to achieve wellness and balance of body, mind and soul, as well as a sustainable relationship with others and nature.
