I'm going to make a few people smile in tonight's blog post...
The first is my good buddy @crazycowboy who recently jumped back on the blockchain. I've known this guy for over 20 years now and when I say I'm going to talk about the 'F' word...He gets it.
The next will be @elianaicgomes because of a little conversation her and I were having earlier today....
O.K., enough of the set up let's get into it...
I got some stats from thumbing in my journal today. Now I am not sure these can be considered gospel, but once you read them, I think you'll agree with what it's showing us:
We spend on average, 8.5 hours either in front of our television, computer screens or mobile phones.
Every day, we are exposed to around 63,000 pieces of information
We unlock our phones about 110 times a day
In a nutshell, about 30% of our day is filled with distractions.
So maybe those are just numbers someone came up with and I wrote them down, but I think we can all agree....Attention is at a premium in this day and age. That explains why these big multi-national social media entities develop systems that are designed to do one thing....Keep you focused on their apps!
And there's the dirty F word....
I secretly believe, the ability to focus is a super power that we should all work at.
Now the easy answer is to shut off all your tech when you need to focus, don't answer the doorbell and concentrate. However I'm going to angle this in a different way for this post.
You see, I believe that when you focus on your passion, you start to become an expert or an authority on it.
I'll use myself as an example....
Around 20 years ago (the same time I met @crazycowboy) he sat me down and told me to basically trim the fat. I had my hand in pretty much every business you could imagine. And he put it on my plate that I should focus on one thing, and do that extremely well....And my results would increase.
I took the advice, and ended up starting my first blog back in 2003. Over the next decade, all I did was write about my chosen niche. I developed products that catered to that niche and when it was all said and done, I ended up being known as one of the authority figures in that industry.
It opened a ton of doors for me and because of it, I would have never found this amazing blockchain community over 5 years ago. All because, I trimmed the fat, ignored the noise and focused on my passions.
I encourage you to do the same....
It's hard though! We are being distracted at every turn. New crypto projects are screaming for our attention. This new app launched. An amazing business opportunity popped up....
Focus!
It's time for a gut check to pick your passion and literally....Ignore everything else until you become a go to expert in that niche or community. It'll change the way you approach everything when it come to business building and heck, even building your crypto portfolio too....I know it helped me!!
